I joined in December 2002, which makes me an old timer but not quite on the level of the hoary-headed old grognards here.

I can't recall how I found the forums and whether the forums alerted me to Uncommon Valor, or vice versa. But I started playing UV that month. I played a number of games over the next few years, but the only opponents whose names I recall now are Admiral Dadman, John III, and Miller.

I remember when WitP came out and how it drained most of the grognards away from UV. I swore off WitP feeling that it would take too much time (I was right about the time commitment, but wrong to think it wasn't worth it). I finally bought WitP in March 2006, fired up a game against John III, and immediately quit because of the massive feel of the game. I didn't pick it back up until around May 2007, when I squared off against Miller in a game that lasted until "August 1944."

I belong to the younger generation. Remember playing UV to the death (say 10 turns a day), restarting PBEMs at least 20-25 times after a bad move. Those were the days!

I first joined on 9/8/2000, but changed ISPs in 2002 and had to rejoin because I forgot to keep my old ISP long enough to switch all my memberships!

Apparently I originally joined 9/25/2000 however I forgot I had and rejoined 1/17/2002.

Anybody know if I can combine the two?

Can anyone remember what the Matrix forum used to look like way back when??

I used to read ever single post on the forum which is totally impossible now!!! (Though T. seems to make a good attempt these days [;)])

The forum's sense of humor doesn't seem to have changed much over the last 10 years..... [:D]

And THAT is why I love this place.

I was just looking through some of the post counts of alot of the regulars here and I noticed that "Joined" date...

So I looked at mine, I remember I joined these forums way back in the day waiting for UV to be released. I can still remember when the CD showed up at my door!

So, has anyone joined before 12/10/2000? Wow, I've been a Matrix Supporter for 8.5 years now! And I was so graciously rewarded with the command USS United States! (Those of you with WITP:Plan Orange know what I'm talking about!) [:D]

Yes this can be consider a "Look at me" thread, but I am curious whose been around the longest!

(Erik Rutins and a few others beat Vorsteher by three days but staff members don't count since they loaded the database. [;)]) Still, the competition was fierce with a lot of familiar names popping up within the next couple of weeks.

LOL - Vorsteher a.k.a. Monty, one of my opponents from UV days. He is lead programmer at www.gamershall.de, a german gaming online magazine, and a very active promoter of UV and WitP on German wargaming sites.

OT: Who can beat me?

65.5 pages x 30 names/page = a rather a long way down the queue... [:(]

(I wonder how many of these are still active?? [&:])

On the bright side you are in the first 6.9% of the membership list.

Cheers,
Reg.
