We have started processing the Turn. I've given the instructions to the Soviet team.
Keep in mind that I was trusted with being the Team Manager AND the Deputy Supreme Commander while continuing being Central Ground Commander, and I have a busy weekend. All the while really without be consulted whether I was willing to take those roles or not. So we ask for your indulgence.
We have great faith in you Drakken [&o]

Turn 1 Rail Repair Option

With Rumania frozen until turn 3, there is a radical option to bring all four FBDs north to extend our priority rail repair routes there a few more hexes. The FBD from the south will only be able to repair one hex before having to be loaded on rail again to make it to the Rumanian border to repair from there on turn 3.

Any thoughts on the turn? Just so I can plan when I need to side aside time.

In Soviet Russia, turn drops you. We are a model of proletarian efficiency for all the world to see.

Soviets is done. File is in the Dropbox.

And our faith was vindicated - all praise Drakken! [&o] [&o] [&o]

Consultation is a bourgeois concept not befitting of socialist man.

Turn 1 Rail Repair

In the end however the south FBD remained to repair a few hexes behind 6th army. Only three FBDs were used north of the Pripyat to repair rail.

I came in a bit earlier tonight, so I have submitted my orders for wallas to begin the turn.

As I am Centre, however, it'll wait for tomorrow evening or Monday during the day. [:o]

Sounds good! Very helpful feedback as it helps plan for when to dedicate time to the game. Thank you again for the heads up!

A bit of a stink in the other multiplayer thread about people seeing each other's thread. How should we handle that for our game I wonder? Sure the rules say; "don't" but is that really the best way to manage this eventuality?

If we continue with 'secret' threads per team, what if we see someone from the other team in it? Penalties? Start using code books? Purposefully post misinformation? Degrade it to meaningless information and have something else in parallel?

Or do we just have any secret comms done via group email / drop box and forget about the team specific threads?

Interested in your thoughts. And good to create clarity and common understanding for ourselves in case this happens to our game.

If I might describe a thought for one wargaming value system. Playing a wargame such as WITE takes a degree of trust. It is sort of a marriage. One invest a lot of their time and effort with an opponent stating "yes I will be there till the end" and turn 7 Leningrad falls (an exaggeration for sure ;) )and they quit. Beyond that, it is possible to be gamey, or do things to take advantage of the system at the expense of your opponent. I will not elaborate but there are lots of gamey things to do in WITE. So, one has to have a degree of trust in ones opponent and for some of us, we really plan to stick out a 3-4 year relationship in a game. When that is violated we get pretty hurt.
That said, So as far as going into the private Axis area, I have no qualms. All my strategic discussions have been PM, Email, and I have an AAR in the dropbox. (which will go live for the Soviets to see turn 5 -- 5 turns behind).

One thing I really would like to happen and that all sides 1) enjoy the game and 2) because this game is soooo complex learn from each other. If (1) is not met people will quit and the game is over if (2) is not met people will get frustrated first, and then they will quit .. game over.

Soviet Air Commander

I will move it from the Dropbox that has been communicating a plan with my peers to a thread. It should garner some activity ;)
It will be interesting to see how my bridgehead across lake Pskov develops .. I really don’t know yet what I want to do!

Soviet team get their anti aircraft guns ready

Image

reminds me of a Story from a german "Schlachtflieger" or ground attack aircraft Pilot about the eastern front.

he said that in France, everytime the French soldiers saw a german airplane straffing their Position they duck and went behind cover and let the AA handle the situation. however, the russian soldiers lay down and started Shooting with all they got. he made a joke about russian officers who would even throw their horseshoes after the german pilots only if they could get them off the horses fast enough.:)

Drakken, many thanks again!

Just thought you would like to see how we are doing in time turn around terms as compared to the other team game

Turn 2 - EightMP 15days 2by3+ 6days
Turn 3 - EightMP 15days 2by3+ 11days

So basically for a team game this is on steroids! So congrats to all but especially for Drakken and SparkleyTits for coping with us!

I know it can be frustrating if you are used to the pace of a solo game. It is not that people are slow, it is just all those gaps in between. But I know the Soviet team have never let the game just be forgotten and I am finding it fun seeing the Soviet gos appear. So a particular thank you for Drakken! [&o][&o][&o]

Was surprised to see one for evac - I assume industry evac. Looks like a good idea if so to do something just for that. But I guess you can reveal all after the game has finished!
