WiR 4 will see the light!!!
RE: WiR 4 will see the light!!!
Just a bump on this thread for any updates anyone cares to toss out.
RE: WiR 4 will see the light!!!
I don't have to worry about my wife since she doesn't speak English
Thus whatever I write I'm safe
Anyhow, she tried a different strategy: when computer wasn't used she played solitaire late till night. It worked: I barely ever play WiR while she is at home and she almost never plays solitaire when I'm at home.
Fortunately she works very long

RE: WiR 4 will see the light!!!
well, i could have said something a couple months ago during the christmas break but i didn't want to disappoint everyone at a festive time! then i forgot...
i wrote 2by3 games a nice detailed email giving every reason for them to create a full north american west coast-to-moscow game, since the distance between those points is 4500ish miles while WitP is 7000ish miles across. i mentioned they should use the new russian front game they were making as the "test" just like uncommon valour was the "test" for WitP since this would be a more land oriented game and the land combat system would need to be honed much more than WitP.
unfortunatly the email "disintegrated" when i transfered it to a folder within my yahoo email (the first and last time that ever happened! just figures...) so i can't post it, but he basically said it was on the back burner and would not be completed for several years.
so yes - that really stinks! sorry to be the bearer of the bad news!

RE: WiR 4 will see the light!!!
According to a playtester of WiTP Mike Wood is spending most of his time now working on WiR 4
please, could you post a link to that info, if there is any?

War in the Pacific is a complete disaster and I don't want WiR 4 to be similar. As far as WiR 4 is concerned I believe it should be pretty similar with a little bit bigger and more accurate map and - the most important thing - the AI should be greatly improved.
War in the Pacific is not playable because it takes too much time - I don't and I don't believe I'll ever have enough time to spend 2 days on first turn...

One man's opinion Morphy. I would disagree completely.

Well, if I had more time my opinion would be different... But school times are gone...

Now i have been playing wir for years along with Rosso german war 41-44. Both games age great in their own right, wir gives you a small map with the difficulties in managing divisions, corp, production etc. Russo gives a huge map with plenty of cities/towns to conquer but without divisions and production etc. What would be fantastic is a combination of both games. Now there would be a challenging game indeed . Hope Mr Grisby is Listening or indeed Ron Dockal.[8|]

well, if you want to try to look at it in a positive light, if they pull WitP II off properly they might have the basis to do that "eastern north america to the urals" game i mentioned before. let them fix the bugs in the pacific, then do the ultimate WW II in the western hemisphere game!
of course, that'l be 5 years from now...the waiting hurts soooo much!

Ron Dockal at Schwerpunkt has a updated Russo German war as one of the options for his next game. [&o][&o]ORIGINAL: loveman1

This would maybe use a updated Anglo German War (AGW) engine as part of a war in europe project, basically do the bits of WW2 in europe that AGW missed. This would mean a scale of weekly turns and units from regiment to division or corps. AGW ground scale is 12km per hex which gives very impressive maps and to help the germans cover the vast russian front divisions can be divided into and recombined from regiments/brigades.
you can already get a taste of the possibilities as AGW has some east front scenarios. eg the russian jan 45 winter offensive and a gotterdamerung scenario covering the last weeks of the war.

Actually, if you read further down this thread, Matrix says that this will not affect progress on WIR at all.

Not to bring a downer to this thread, but does this mean that the new War in Russia is being pushed back/delayed/canceled?
Nope, this will have no effect on WiR's development schedule.

So are they going to do a WIR 4 or not?[&:]

Never argue with an idiot, he will only drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

That's untrue to an unheard-of degree...

Yeah! Everyone knows it takes 3 days to complete the first turn[:D]
RE: WiR 4 will see the light!!!
It would be nice to have a windows version, like the new TOAW release.

Unfortunately, this has put work on our War in the East game back on hold. It looks like this game will not go forward again until Keith and Gary have more time to devote to it, and that doesn’t look likely anytime in the next year. So we’re sorry to say that our next crack at the Russian Front is still several years away.
