RE: Nasty Airwars
Yes, resource can be used by Singapore to produce more supply (same with Oil) but your better off sending plain supply if you can manage it. Blockading Singapore can be difficult but not impossible if you establish the JAAF on the peninsula fast enough. Also if the Japan player is willing to brave the Vildebeasts with small warships.
RE: Nasty Airwars
That is way too many Nells and Bettys for my pleasure...Whatever happened to the 27 B + 6 N of UV....
Anyway, more nastiness in the airthis turn...[8|]
A AVG withdrawing from Chengsha for now...Took too many casualties.[:@] Actually the Chengsha unit only lost a little...The Unit do LRCAP got shredded.
A few more bettys lost (4)....Again Japan lost more in the air, but not by as much 35 to 25...
I lost the AAR but I lost 15 of the AVG to 20 Nates....

Just got the next turn...
Also forgot to mention he has 8-9 units converging on Yenan...I have about 7 corps in it a few on the way to help ZOC so it should take him a while.
He moved some units to attack Mersing...Some transports paid the price.....

Rainy Days
Rain kept air combat to a minimum..When the highlight of the day is 3 zeroes on LRCAP being lost to OPs you know it was quiet..
A little annoyed..Miri will fall. Not that that bothers me, but in the previous turn nothing was spotted...
2 Subs have sunk over the last 2 days[:D]
But my TK that was hit by a sub a week ago also decided to swim with the fishes[&:]
Points this turn...
A. Rangoon being evacuated...Only 1 unit there anyway...
B. Ph get supplied, troop reinforcements etc...
C. The Pensacola (CA) which was at one point 98-76-3 is resting at shortlands and is now 98-52....As long as Rabual does not fall (am shocked he is not doing reg attacks there) he will probably not move down to attack shortlands unless the KB gets involved..In that case that is one dead CA!
D. The interemediate Cent Pac islands (Suva, Canton, Johnson) are getting various degrees of supplies, mines and reinforcements...
Yes, I understand some IJN players use this to trap US units...That is the risk, but if properly defended only a serious invasion can take such an island and it if I can build up forts it probably means 2 weeks or more for the base to fall.
Anyway, in a historical game, I think it is somewhat harder for the IJN to just walk all over everywhere....
E. Related to being aggressive on issue D, my opponent has again voice his concern over his rather meandering attack...Could be psyche warfare...Could be a guy too used to an IA game waking up to the difficulty of a PBEM game....
F. Moved some Tivas to Kuching to pain the warships at Mili (who wandered through a newly created minefield with no mine hits.)[:(]

Also it seems there is a small fleet at Moratai and a Transport fleet headed for Davao....Naval units moving out to attack. Should attack into 2 turns....

Mindao Pincer
He is launching a pincer on Mindao[:(]
This turn a landing Cagayan..Next turn at Davao (I think). He has two tfs (one a few warships the other transports) 3 hexes away.
That said I have 1 CA, 3 CLs and 7 DDs ready to surprise that landing![:)] His planes did not see my ships...So hopefully he will get a rather bloody nose..But as he has warships covering (I only saw 3) I might get bloodied instead[8|]

He lost 21 planes to my 8..Though many were Sonias..Only 3 betty/Nells...I have moved in 17 P-40s from the AVG though to make the next Singapore bombing run a little more exciting.

A tale of 2 ambushes.......
Well the small (Morotai) went off perfect...But not much was there.
At Davao I just missed the enemy concentration[&:]
BUT if seems right behind is a mini KB so perhaps not getting any damaged ships was a blessing in disguise....Rain stops lots of air combat.....

Davao folds, Buffs get reamed
Not the optimal allied turn.
Davao does not put up much fight..9 PBYs lost (the unit survives with 3 Planes)
8 Buffs bite the big one...However given everything plane losses are US 21 vs 19 for Japan...Not bad considering..
Am suffering ZOC Hell in Burma as my guys will be forced into Ragoon..Fortunately there is a 3000 PT AP docked there so 1 unit will definitely get out...Other Transport should arrive in 2-3 days...
Most of Canton Island Build up complete..Now massive supply unload....Planes (Fighters and LBA) starting to be spread out as well...Of course if he goes for a KB covered multidivision attack I will lose any island (save PH..probably)...But short of that level of commitment, the line will most likely hold a smaller attack (well give me another month!)

RE: Davao folds, Buffs get reamed
Hi Jeffs ,, nice going in making the japanese retreat in the PI , he will seriously miss those troops when you hunker down in one place eventually.
One other tip is the CD rangoon guns are ship portable and well worth saving for andaman is. if possible or even trincomalee if you think he will be agressive in the indian ocean.
other than that doing very very well, i like to see an active allied defence , so much more fun and if done well really hurts japans confidence in the 'expansion' period.
p.s garrison and make forts at kragen point in java .. well worth it .

RE: Davao folds, Buffs get reamed
Rob...Thanks..
Actually just ordered a small unit to Kragen...
THe Ragoon CD unit is in Ayabakan..
The 2 units that are semi trapped are infantry brigades. I have some transport and
there now and will get more in a turn or 2..Have started LRCAP to help get the boys out.
Again, with ahistorical openings it might be impossible to form a decent defense line, but with historical it is very possible (not saying it can not be overcome, but the empire will need to work for it..And there are only so many places where then can come in that much force.

Big news was PI PTs ambush a transport TF and whack a base unit badly!
One ship sunk, the other badly damaged. Ye-ha!
Brit attacks air attacks finally damage a few transports near Sing...
1 Engineering unit into NM...
Nell Betty losses 1/5...Total air losses A 6 J 13....
Another bloody attempt getting troops into Clark...I do not fully understand..Manila is almost empty so he should take that and then waltz in...

Singapore under air attack..Yet more rejection at Clark
1. He launched a large raid on Singapore...My fighters held there own, but could not stop the numbers...About 10 planes nailed on the ground....
Flying in 26 P-40E that used to be in PI and letting the AVG boys rest a few turns....Buff units are in pain....
Will try to fly in some other stuff as well...Moving bombers out......
2. More Slaughter at Clark..Unfortunately, that fun will come to an end once Japan realizes how weak Manila is...

THe airwar over singapore had 5 zeroes shot down in combat with another 5!! lost
in ops...Die zero flyboys die!!
Rangoon fell..As mentioned previously, of the 2 infantry brigades, about 75% were
evacuated.
He also landed at shortlands....Not a huge surprise but a couple of turns earlier than I would have thought..Glad I moved the Pensacola to Tulagi...But flooding, which had been down to 30 before the move keeps going in spite of being in port..now 54...Not happy about that....I would think it would need to get to 20sh if it has any chance to get to NM.......
I have a few CAs/CLs at Tulagi. They will be paying a visit to Shortlands....Am worried about LBA but sometimes you have to live dangerously... I did not see reports of warships....(I have an AV with PBYs at Tulagi).
He has been keeping a few CAs and DDs at Miri (shockingly has not moved to take Brunei...So I have moved in a bunch of torpedo planes to Brunei and Kuching.....We are hoping to provide a serious reaming....

1 out of 2 ain`t bad
I had 2 counterattacks planned for today...
#1 was to attack the Transport fleet at Shortlands...
[:D] Big success 3 minesweepers and 3 to 4 escorts are sunk
I have minimal damage..Though no transports are sunk...But still, a
bit of pain for Japan (PGs are 5 VPs so they start adding up
#2 Torpedo bomber attacks off of Borneo. Tired mediocre pilots, bad weather add
up to no hits...But not much in losses either..
Pensacola at Tulagi now has flooding stabilize at 53...
Bad weather shuts down almost all air combat in Malaya, Sing...I am not disappointed

AVG Finally gets a victory
My opponent mentioned that he is now having to pay attention to being attacked when/where he is not expecting it. So I had to look up the Chinese Characters for Sun Tzu and mentioned him as my inspiration...
Todays action...
[:(] He is now using Bettys based in south PI.....Did not do much damage (sunk a PT, badly damaged an AK)
but clearly I need to be more careful with ships......
[:D] He flew a raid into Chengsha and the AVG tortured it...
