lost a day somewhere in the lets get going again poo fight.
Not that much happened anyway -he keeps bombing the snot out of me all over the map, and I remain at truk
At Wau I tried to shock attack my way through -no go, an entire battalion of aussies now block the track
desperate states need desperate measures -the troops now head across country to the coast -they won't make it -but will try.
I wont abandon them -if they make it, the navy will try to pick them up

To that end, 4 fat tankers are leaving truk, via the map edge, and the BB once again will head south - risking the american CVs
2 CS are due to arrive soon, they will make good pick up troop ships.

Finally every sub i have -10 in number now, load supplies, and head towards lunga

Sorry the game has been intermittant -we battle on.

I am going to risk a convoy to madang

And a classic encounter battle begins at salamalua -some aussies run into my troops coming from Lea.

The battle at salamalua was short and shartp - fresh healthy and angry japanese troops annilihated 650 aussies at salamalua

this will sting him
I now need to distract wobbly so that the convoy can get in.
accordingly 100 oscars, 54 lillies move to gassmatta -target dobodura!

wobbly spotted the suddenly dark gassmatta airfield symbol -and acts accordingly[:(][:(][:@]
(this is so unfair for a japanese player) -surprise is impossible
A naval bombardment hits the place, and kills a dozen planes
Then 2 large air raids -39 hits , 54 hits
but my planes at least were headed the other way
At 100 feet the enemy CAP did not intercept -dobodura is straffed -but only 3 enemy destroyed, 49 hits
dakatoes over wau intercepted by rufes!

gassmatta is closed -the planes trapped.
Oh well -charge - the orders go out, shortlands, lea, rabual and kavieg re occupied by over 400 planes

All this is so that my convoy that just left Truk at least has a chance.

A lilly sinks a LCM
39 liberators hit rabual -65 hits, crap!
49 mitchells , 21 thunderbolt hit gassmatta -55 hits
55 forts as well
40 heavies and 30 mediums battle 30 zeros over lea
71 oscars, 29 lilly hit dobodura -his CAP did not stop them at all -ahh, attacks at 100 feet are good!
Nicks and zeros hit vila -destroying some planes on the ground

OH, OH -5 betties attack 100 fighters to the east of kavieg -there is a huge invasion fleet way out east of kavieg -is this a home run on Truk!!!!

various sallies , nells, and betties make small attacks every where -missing various ships

The final battle 56 zeros, 20 bombers attack woodlark shipping, 21 shot down by the 40 corsairs there.
At least half survived though to attack -in WITP there would have been no survivors.
Why is this so in UV, and not in WITP?

The air model here seems to work so much better, late 43 and I still have a chance -a realistic historical feeling chance, not so in WITP!

Thats why I will not buy WITP at the minute. In real life 100 Zeros vs 100 F4Fs would result in about 20 or so losses on both sides, in WITP it would be about 80-90 each which is a joke.[:@]

I know mods are available to tone down these results but I cannot be arsed to fanny about installing/playtesting them.......

Then masses of MSW action at Kavieg -its not Truk, but wobbly is really into the island hopping now!
My BB is hiding at Wewak, and troops are sneaking down the edge of the map

The troops at Wau have reached Nassua bay -which I cleverly stocked with supplies months ago[:'(]

30 zeros escort just 3 betties to Kavieg from Truk - vs 27 wildcats
27 zeros get through, so do the betties -one AP is smashed up
And a rufe pilot at lea shoots down 3 dakatos today over wau[&o][&o]

troops streaming ashore over the beaches at kavieg -I have a full regiment here.
rabual is heavily attacked -41 zeros rise to meet 35 hellcat,37 p38, and 33 liberators
2 hellcats go down, for 8 zeros lost, mostly on the ground.

Its still fun even at this late stage[:)]

The invasion of kavieg continues -mines taking out 2 enemy ships
His carriers hover to the north of the base, and the weather remains maddengly clear, I need some bad weather, and badly[8|]

he keeps pounding Rabual, 36 zeros vs 23 corsairs and 21 hellcats today -now I lost 10 zeros, but I can fight on, if this was WITP that would have been it, fini.
He attacks Lea-52 Tony, 16 zerop vs 7 warhawk, and 9 spitfires turn up
4 tony lost, 6 zero lost.
Other battles as well, mainly my planes launch, and run away.

More action over kavieg, and rabual.
Every day he hammers rabual, every night my zeros rise again
Numbers get less each day -but I fight on

26 zeros vs 20 Hellcats,26 wildcats,22 corsair, 34 mitchell
I actually kill a couple today

8 zero vs 16 p38, 36 liberators -nothing special in this war

Then my Rufes at Kavieg vs 15 hellcats
And the nicks at kavieg fly -12 vs 15 hellcats - LST 461 is sunk
and a AP is hit with 3 bombs, and straffed.
More Lillies flying at 100 feet from kavieg strafe 3 dds, miss, but smash a DMS[:'(]
BB Nevada, BB penny are missed - I think we will see them soon in a surface battle[8|]

The nicks fly again -another AP is bombed, LST 446 is sunk!

Buggar -more troops get ashore at kavieg, my shock attack is ruinous -1 to 1 odds, 718 casos to 76

Thunderstorms tomorrow -BB sails from wewak full speed east, and CS chitose will be in the area tomorrow!

I claim 2 lst, 2 AP sunk or crippled today, and a DMS as well.[:)]

Not a good one for japan, i suffer some terrible luck considering how daring I was.
Wobbly writes back that he considers himself very lucky to get away with the day.

A naval bombardment of Lea last night, never saw it coming, no surprise there, all my search assetts are basically back at truk

BB nagato and Co arrive at kavieg -at Dawn[:(][:(][:(][:(]
rabual hit, the zeros are no good now for anything except as a distraction there
kavieg is hit
Then his CVs attack nagato battle fleet as it charges towards kavieg
They actually perform poorly, 52 Dive bombers, 45 Avengers, 60 fighters
Nagato wears 5 bombs, Takao 1, Myoka 1[8|]
More attacks, Takao is torped.
dauntless launch from Buka -and put 4 bombs into the chitose -which has totally not taken the CV heat as wanted

26 vals moved into Kavieg attack -they hit Nevada with a bomb, but only 10 survive the flack and fighters

Finally the fleet gets to Kavieg

Its all about timing -the navy is doing its job, supporting the Army

Every plane I have in Truk is ordered to naval attack -in case he does wander North into range.
The war goes on, Wobbly must know that given even a glint f an opening, I will be there fighting on!

Why oh why cannot WITP have extended air battles like this!
This feels so realistic over rabual -the gradual attrition of my air there

100 heavies hit the place as well
50 hit Port Moresby
His CVs went west! -now north of the admiralties -OH NO -the troop convoy!

but the mass raids all go to kavieg, 3 huge raids
CA myoko, CA takao and the grand old nagato go down

My betties and nells at Truk attack massed shipping at kavieg

4 AK, 1 DD hit by 250 kg bombs
another AK in a second raid

he shocks at kavieg -0 to 1[:D][:D]
668 allies dead to my 184, forts to 4

The fleet, whats left will get away!
Now for the carnage I suppose with the convoy -amazingly it was not spotted, the crippled Chitose was -maybe she will buy the troops tomorrow another day
