Jan 1942 week one off the great liberration offensives of 1942

OK, the finns will be gone from the map! Helsinki falsl, I am surprised that massive forces where not trained in! so.. wave after wave of air power and several divisions easily overwhelmed the reserve fortifications in the Finn capital.

Elsewhere operation "Fire from the Sky" caused untold damage to German airfields while destroying or dissabling many enemy planes. Apx 15 enemy fields where targeted.
A General Frontwide offensive saw modest gains and many enemy formations disloded from fortified possitions and reduced in strength. The ares South of Smolensk, while covering a greater area saw the enemy taking sevear losses.

The area East of Lenningrad again saw the heaviest fighting.

This next map is just south of the above map, and thus South of Smolensk, shows the German liflines, RAIL in black and the Red arrows the advancing armies lines...

With the destruction of the Finns, we turn our attention to the destruction of Army Group North. Soon 100 more divisions will decend upon the stressed troops, that are already fading ! This map shows the lines of attack near Lenn for the second turn, still first week in JAn 42. Meanwhile we continue to pound the Luftwaffe in their bases!

These next two shots show North and South of Smolensk... Where the main highway from Minsk to Moscow runs. Note the lack of German troop oin the North! Note visable is the attack on Bryansk liberated that city, now free from the tyrany of the hun!

This last map is the area south of Smolensk...

See Roslavl above, once it falls the enemy line will be unhinged and be forced off the river, or they can stay and slowly wither without supplies!

The lines from Smolensk north are almost gone, what cannot be seen at tthese resolutions are the low strength and lack of armor in that area.. soon we will be bathing in the famed baths of Riga!

While attacks all allong the front, t61, continue to reduce the defending Germans, the offensive has ended, I miss those four round attacks turns! The Red Air continues to bomb German Airbases, causes untold damages and suuffering high losses, which they can easily absorbe see lossees below in next post.

Below is the map showing the destruction of Army group North! are they gone? not yet, but it will take a Miracle to survive gettng encircled and being reduced.. Eastern group. the freaze may save the western group as the two rail points get over run and they too lose their supply. My oponent seems to have issued stand and die orders... Summer of 1942 will be interesting, I do not doubt he will hit me hard, BUT I still am pulling massive troops into my reserves and he will start ?? to feel the lose of so many many good inf sqds.

There are also 4000 plus Yak fighters and over 1000 British and American planes sitting on the ground waiting to be hurled into action... these are the reserves, not the assigned! Losses are unbelievable,see the infantry at over 135k! but my thoughts are, I have them to lose, and every one is lost causing destruction to the enemy... I have forced some groud, but again my goal was the destruction of the german Air and ground forces, and so far things are looking great.

Early Feb apx?? ok, So I cannot remember exactly at this point the desperate Germans launch and OFFENSIVE! holy cow can you believe it? All allong the South East armored units crush the exhusted forward elements.. local commanders are quick to launch counterattacks and the Road to Rostov is sealed up tight!
Well my goal is to destroy the Gtrman army maybe we should allow them free access all the way into the rear areas?

In the North the two groups South of Lenn are facing very different battles. The weaker of the two to the Southeast is overrun and forced over the river, after facing a ten to twelve div to each regiment advantage after the Finnish front troops fell south and engaged them! Conversly the Strong German Armored troops broke out of the pocket, but the repeated "nibbling" attacks have them seriously drained and the rails cut hundreds of km to their rear! still they are alive to my surprise!
South of the "lake".. or ice rink, we are seeing limited success all along the front to Smolensk... pix of the entire front soon

This shot shows several "two bar" elements of German regiments, technically Bats but iun reality closer to company streangth units! The river being frozen allowed them to avoid complete destrustion. Note the port is in Red army hands, as are the road and rail crossings.. On to the Baltic !~

Winter rolls on, the German army, once formidable and daunting now a skeletal shell... few units north of the Moscow Minsk highway are not in danger of being overrun... there is an estimated 18 to 1 ratio of troops along the front! There is no german air to Thousands of Red air force planes. In the South the Germans have managed to pus hthe lines back toward the pre winter borders.. but they too are week.. AGS will not save AGC and AGN from oblivian! The Northern troops will be in the Baltic states within days.

Loveman has kicked red ass in the south.. from near KArkov he drove EAST and the troops I thought where on the ropes south of the Don are driving on Rostov! ugly... But in the North several armies of Germans are no more... and several more are in dead reduced to shells... a hasty line of "fresh" troops appears to stave off the overrun of the Baltics! The line South of the Moscow Minsk highway has again stablized..

Did you all loke at the losses! Summer of 42 will see some interesting german advances.. folowed by a HUGE 42 43 winter counter attack!

LW losses must be sevear.. as they get hurt byu the winter rules and I have used my built up air force.. included US planes to pound the airbases... feels wrong to take the air away! BUT the germans could have rebased it !!!!

I transfered 12 sqds to the south as the enemy has now included the center , south of Smolenk, in his winter 42 counter attacks! In the North things are winding down as we prepare for another ambitious plan, but the presure oin the few troops just south of Lenn continues as they are, German troops, war weary and in need of refite/repair! I expect them to go back a few mor hex....
I need about 50k rail to move all these replacement/reconstituted troops!
 
More pressing is the situation in the Crimia.. forgot it last turn oops.. he now has entered the penninsula after being driven out!

The crimea is well and truly entered and army group south are anchored on the Mius river line and are halted east of voroshigrad as mud sets in. Army group northhave a huge bulge in their lines but now the germany ary is beginning to reconstitute.[8|]
