Did he also tell about walk forward creating heat and therefore reducing your heat dissipation? And consuming 2 PUs and therefore possibly slowing down your firing rate? Can be a pretty heavy price for 5% protection ;-)
BTW, it's not just 5%. It also involves your speed. Did he also teach you the reverse? Wait on Unit Locked foe. :D
The jump trick, well, if you have good enough stats, what stops your opponent from having the same (assuming same level teams), and therefore being able to fire too? Besides, firing when hovering has high penalties. Scanner links are a better option in team play, since it saves on your jump time - it will get depleted fast.

It was in Polar, and besides, thats what he himself does :) Since I was mainly firing Mesons, and since Mesons use ammo, I thought that they didn't depend so much on PU's to 'recharge' like an LL would... am I wrong?

Havn't used Wait on Unit Locked foe... will have to look into it.

I know the match was in polar, but you refered to those tricks as something he taught you before. Also, you said it yourself, Hetz dropped his shield to cool down faster. And that was in polar :)
The mesons don't use power (only the GC needs 1 PU to fire among cannons), but the LLs do, and you said that upon closing you were using LMGs and LLs. Also, assaults usually have ECM and shield and a lot of power consuming weapons, so something has to give if you're moving.
Anyways, I'm just pointing out some details, in a general way. Mainly emphacising that every "trick" has a drawback.

That's what we like to hear! :)

Don't see the need for this kind of post. Everyone pretty much knows you're in the beta team. At least that's what I heard...

Heh... I remember that jumping trick. Used it on Hetzer once in a hell battle. It was either me or him that said afterward that it was like shooting a jack-in-the-box. Hills inbetween, I'd jump up, lock, fire, jump down. Usually in just enough time to hit Hetz without getting myself hit. Even if he did hit me, I'd have enough time to get back up. :)

Was fun, till I jumped up once and Hetz wasn't there... I went north around the mountain, and Hetz came around south and blew my CBT out. x(

*Sigh* I'll get him yet ;P

If only I could use my Freezer design... CLGs are sweet, even though they're **** against shields. You can fire them as fast as you want, because they give little heat.

Or my AutoFire12 Mk2... 4 AC12s, good defenses >:) I'm good with that too... Anyway, bye now :)

Don't you just hate it when he's not where you expect him to be? You pop up, and there's no one in sight. At that moment, you pretty know you're dead.

For my first net battle in a very long time, I fought Hetzer (Of course) in a polar landscape, with an Assault called Death Dealer. Unfortunately, his PinCushion dealt me the death of a Thousand Cuts, despite my managing to wound his pilot pretty severely. Once he took out my LoT, it was basically over. A few minutes later he finished off my heat reg.

2nd game was My WidowMaker (2PBs/3Pulse) vs his Thug (3AC12s/2LLs) in Hell. He charged and I was left standing.

Both games were close enough that I was sweating AC20 rounds :( In the last game both my legs were red when it ended.

Taren, I'm glad to see you and all that but Stop Making me work so hard :(

Well, come on. I've been gone for like, years now. I need to shake off some of this rust. Who better to do it against? That's why your legs were red - showers of rust flying off my Titan as it became used to movement again.

It would be nice if you both use your netgame time to test 2.0 instead of 1.4

Hetz said he's not on the beta team anymore, or we would have played it instead...

And you know why I'm good? Because that only worked once. ;P

He tried it the last game, but I saw it coming and blew out his engine. :) Live and Learn ;)

Larkin when I downloaded the last beta and tried to enter the HQ I got a message that my beta-tester license had expired. Since it's just been fairly recently that I've felt like I had two neurons firing sequentially I didn't think this undeserved and so didn't contact you to ask about it. Taren was being nice to an old friend, that's all. Please don't think less of him for this. As for me, I was given a window that let me regain some lost ground but the process has begun again. I'll try and keep giving newcomers teaching games and to be the best ambassador to your lovely creation that I'm capable of but at present that's about all that I feel that I'm good for. My ability to see flaws and inconsistancies is rather limited these days and more and more I find myself doing things that even a few months ago would have shocked me. This is waht my tyopeing looks like si I sondt endit it. So better, I think, to try and remain your friend than to become even more of a failure as your assistant. I play ToS these days by habit and instinct rather than by forethought and calculation because I can't do the math in my head anymore.

Larkin. You know what a difference your game has made in my life and if I have, in any way, dissapointed you I am so very very sorry.

Battled CrushU last night with mediums. We both got Pariahs (2 GM6, 2 GM3). After losing the connection once and reloading the game, we had a pitched missle battle (Okay, so that's something an oxymoron...). We both had rather thin armor by the time I got some bad luck and had an ammo explosion, then gracefully fell on my face, which pretty well signalled the end. I managed to stand up and get another shot in, but by then I was missing a LT. When my leg fell off a minute or so later, I had to eject, due to no weapons able to fire.
