Most disappointing for me was Age of Sail II. It was a beautiful upgrade from AOS, but the implementation seriously lacked. The biggest problem was that a smaller ship could not grapple onto a larger ship without being ground into dust, even if that ship had already surrendered. This, of course, prevented you from gaining vessels in your fleet in the campaign game...

I liked the interface, loved the graphics, nearly everything but the bugs that Akella refused to even acknowledge.

I tried Age of Sail, and started laughing when i had one survivor on a ship (all the rest hors de combat) simultaneously reloading the entire broadside of a Ship of the Line without any decrease in time that it would have taken 40 entire gun crews. I took it off my hard drive after that.

So, i was really looking forward to Age of Sail II, when cr@p like this was supposed to have been corrected. It started crashing about 30 seconds into the game. It also got taken off the hard drive very quickly. Another wad of money flushed down the toilet...[8|][:@]

This one was pretty weird.

I had that one. As I recall, it tried to do too much considering the technology of the time. I had it on my Atari 800! It had a "sophisticated AI" that tried to simulate a chain of command and the confusion battle can have upon it. As Field Marshall you sent orders, via courier, to your generals, then, depending on the situation, they may or may not obey them. Also, it had some 3-D graphics displays of the battle field and no top down displays - generals didn't have satellites in those days, so no comprehensive battlefield views were offered. Ultimately, the AI would break down and wierd stuff would happen. I often saw my skirmishers charge valiantly into the middle of the enemy's line. [X(]

For me it was AH's B1 Bomber. As I remember alls it had was script, no graphics. The only mission you could fly was basically nuke Russian cities. Ah the days of the Trash -80. Not!

Hey! It was a good game, you have to remember it was back in the early PC days where there weren't such a wealth of graphics, also it was a Sim of flying a B1 Bomber in, getting reports of radar etc and having to fight way in or abort to alternative sites to nuke... whooo wheee..

I have 2 entries for the worst wargame ever. The first is the worst wargame of the last millenium (imho) and that HAS to be Patriot by Three-Sixty Pacific. The game as released was unplayable and even after a huge patch effort, it never was worth the bytes that were wasted on it. The second is worst (war)game of this millenium (imho) and that would be a tie between the recently released Age Of Empires III & Stronghold II, both suck and are poor follow-ups to their older siblings. Both suffer from much the same problems, they implemented great graphical improvements, but allowed gameplay to suffer. Crapola in my book!

Patriot indeed.... it put new meaning in the name of "Vaporware" which i its case was it was Vapor
that Vaporized when you Installed it.... in otherwords... They actually put it out but there really wasn't any game inside..(vapor)

Ahh no, it wasn't too bad. It was what it claimed to be I think - a computerized version of it's board game of the same name.

Now the First one you mentioned...The History Channel's Civil War game - has the distinction of being the ONLY computer game I ever bought and summarily threw in the trash in a matter oh hours![:D]

Already mentioned were three of my biggest disappointments - Super Power, MOO III and that horrible Squad Leader.

Don't know if this counts as a war game but Pax Romana was a real turkey also.[:(]
