Mine would be a game called "Jutland" That I found on the shelves about 12 years ago. A monkey could have made a better game! Only game I ever returned. What is your...., favorite bad game?

There's been so many... Koei's PTO II wasn't very good, but if I really rack my brain (and chalk my nose), I can probably think of worse.

Um, yah,... but one thing Jutland had going for it....it was about the only game ever made on that subject (that I'm aware of anyway)

Mine was called Tobruk, can't remember on which type of computer it was but it was not a very good simulation and had the worst PBEM ever. I even won the game once by attacking with Italian forces only through the minefields of the Gazala line.

The trick was that you can play a part of the battle as a arcade game. By doing so you usually use 5 or 6 times ammunitions and fuel more than the usual battle but you dstroy ten times more enemy troops and crushed everything.

Actually, HPS Simulations (a very good company) put out a version of Jutland about two years ago. Some love it but I found it to be very boring. The graphics are not too good. It is a real time game but the lack of decent graphics make it drag.

John Tiller was the designer. I am a big fan of his but did not really like his series of naval games.

While not strictly speaking a wargame, Supreme Ruler 2010, by Battlegoat Studios, was quite a disappointment, once I got my mitts on it.

I had this awful game, PT Commander or something like that, can't remember the name, for my c64. Found it in some discount bin... there was a good reason it was there. All these ships to command in the pacific, but as near as I could tell, the orders you gave them had little effect on what they did. Watching little dots move around on the screen, seemingly willy nilly was fun for, oh, 10 seconds?
Of course, the optimist in me just assumed i was doing something wrong, so like 7 days later I finally tossed it. [8|]

This game was a great idea that just really really sucked. Playing it was about as interesting as listening to paint dry.

What was that lame game on the first Gulf War - Patriot 360 or something like that? Absolute worst dog I ever wrestled with. :-(

I have 2 favs here .. yes the so-called 1st gulf war game was abysmal .. iirc it was pitched as a harpoon system for groud action ( really should have given the game away) and again KOE pacific war thingy .. based on a card system ? and with no manual at all .. more like pokemon in the pacific .. horrific !

sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

I wish I had gotten into wargames earlier. Started at KP, then BiN, BiI and now WitP. So my frame of reference is nowhere near most of the people here. Although not wargames, I know I have played my share of crappy strategy games. Call to power 2 and Imperialism come to mind. Also Knights & Merchants and Max 2 were the sucks as well. Sorry for my lame entry here....hold me.

I didnt buy it, but a friend had a game called "Patriot" that was supposed to be based on the first Gulf war. Took longer to load it than it lasted on his machine. He doesnt post here, but he reads this forum, so I know he's going to laugh when he sees this [:D]

Well I'm glad to hear that HPS and John Tiller put out a good quality product, because in between game turns of WitP and ship-art, I am about to start their monster campaign game - "Sicily'43" (me and Patton will beat Monty to Messina!).

It looks like quite a change from Witp (1,000yds per hex and 2 to 4 hours per turn) but it does take some 350 turns to cover the month long campaign, and like WitP it accounts for about every square yard, vehicle and man fighting in Sicily. (and did I mention I can try my hand at similar artwork?).

Anyway that's good news - I can fight on both sights of the globe now, and worry about Germans, Italians, and knocking out panzers.[;)]

Off the top of my head i'd probably say GNB Vol V. Never saw a more shoddily built and transparant attempt to squeeze a few last browns out of a dead rotting corpse of a game engine. The artwork.....aieeee.....i could have done a better job using Windows Paint.

Volume 5 was "Demise of the Dreadnoughts" allegedly set in WWI, North Sea.

It should have been called "Demise of SSI"

Description:

Pilot your blocky pixel shaped thing on the high seas and do battle against other blocky pixel shaped things with your 11 inch guns which are much more powerful than the enemy's 15inch weapons. Score a hit and win a blue screen of death!
