Thanks for the sentiment. [:)]

I still think, however, that the real test of the Allied player is how well he fights the first 6 months, as opposed to later on when he has 10 fleet carriers and more planes than he knows what to do with.

True. But when your opponent controls all of those atolls in South Pacific than it is going to a bloody mess with carriers or without carriers. [:(]

It eats a humangous amount supplies to advance through atolls and those troops will take an quite an beating. (I have one PBEM game entering 8/44) I'am considering invasion of Marianas before the year ends but that might be a bad idea. Propably huge garrisons with level 9 fortifications.

It is not as easy than either but at least you will be on the offensive for change! [:D] That is something positive to think about.

PS: Keep your transport ships (AP's) safe early on. Those are the most important ones later on and you cannot have too many of them.

Now that is an entirely different proposition. [:)]

I'll be like the Red Army. I'll spend the first half of the war learning how to defend through a series of bloody noses and then learn how to attack through even more bloody noses. By the time I learn how to do both, the war will be over.

Upon further reflection I feel I should mention that Faber is keeping true to his word of not being a lunacy player. Given my inept commanding, he could have probably had most of India and half of Australia by now.

The Early Days

From all that I know about WitP, having the Clark AFB fighters inflict better than 2:1 loss ratios is doing splendidly. You'll have to make sure you have an evacuation route; it would be a shame to lose that pilot experience.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Thats a deffinite, Harlock. Aircraft will be a bit hard to come by for the next few months but I certainly need to save the pilots.

Lautem fell last turn. I'll post a more detailed update later, as relatively little occured besides that. This got me thinking about the overall picture. I have come to the conclusion that I have not been anywhere near agressive enough in the use of my surface forces. In retrospect, I see that most of the DEI invasion foces were rather lightly escorted. I should have been able to cause at least some damage and worry to Faber with my Dutch cruisers and Force Z. Instead, I fixated on his control of the air and kept these forces back for fear of losing them prematurely. As a result, Faber now controls the most important bases in the DEI which he got with nary a peep out of me. I expect that Faber will have very little trouble folding up the rest of the Dutch bases once he can free up the units currently in Malaya because of the well-known shortage of Allied ground forces coupled with his complete domination of the air, which I will not be able to offset in the least. My only remaining bases of any worth are Soerabaja and Darwin, both of which he can shut down fairly easily.

This is a very painful learning experience for me. [:(]

That's how you'll remember the lessons. It's called negative reinforcement, and it could have been worse; you could have been playing ME.

Maybe we can test that out at some later date. Doubt that either of us have the time for it now.

Its the "..." that made me ask.

As for mods, thats not such a big issue for me. I'll play whatever as long as its fun and not born of complete insanity *cough* like that mod of yours *cough*.

I put "..." after most everything these days...

And my mod isn't insane... Not clinically, Faber and Nik-type insane, anyways...

Faber puts "..." everywhere too. Hmm. As long as were on the subject of insanity, there might be a subconcious trait evaluation in here someplace.
