p.s. Because of the supply situation of my ground units 35k of supplies is at the base when captured and the seabees have done there job the AF is open and 1 sqn of Spits and 1 of P38J's are pfroving aircover for the base.

I will bring in 2 Sqns of F4U's ASAP as well.

100 good LB Fighters will make it tough for PZB to close the AF

I think I will move my USMC Para Bn into Wasile as well I can see all sorts of irritating possibilities for PZB.......this area has 100's of bases can he garrison them all ?

Hydra has gone well so far, but you have a lot of strung out bases. Perhaps a bit of consolidation is in order. I would develop a few mutually supporting lvl 4 a/f bases in the Amboina/Wasile area (no map here so I can't name any right now). That would give you a solid base from which to press further into Borneo as String suggested. Oh and get Noemfoor sorted out quickly - a lot of your now limited assets in SWPAC would be tied up keeping your LOC open.

You said you destroyed 1700 Jap a/c in the Wasile/Morotai operation - If PzB could gather that many again then any further moves forward would be very risky - if you don't consolidate.

Thanks for a great AAR[&o]

Go for S Borneo and after it take W Borneo thus isolating Japan out of Oil Supply your 4E heavy's + 2 E bombers should sink every Jap Tanker in Sight... and then you can see how fast he will run out of Oil and HI points...

I do have lots of bases that are strung out but they are all well supplied covered with DD's or PT Boats and well garrisoned

If I take Amboina and Namlea then that will give me 4 advanced bases in the area.

Apart from nuisance raids the main focus will be on developing those bases and Kai Island.

I won't have the strength for much more.

Just a quick recap of future ops

8th US Army (Tinian)
V Amphib Corps (Tinian)
3rd US Corps (Tinian)
III Amphib Corps (Pagan)
9th US Corps (Marcus/Wake)

6th US Army (Saipan)
1st Amphib Corps (Saipan)
11th US Corps (Saipan)

1st Aus Army (Hydra)
1st Aus Corps (Available)
1st US Corps (Wasile - moving to army reserve)
14th US Corps (Noemfoor)
ABDA Corps (Amboina/Namlea)

Only really 1st Aus Corps is ready for an operation at present and I am strongly considering using them to sieze Admiralties and Emirau as they have been bombed back to the stone age.

These bases must be out of supply and would be easy pickings

So basically a little back office consolidation is what I am considering.

I could do that  but only at the expense of not assaulting the Marianas and I think getting 4E in range of HI is more valuable.

My subs will cause mayhem on the northern route and my 2E bombers will close the south Borneo channel

Btw, how is your sub war coming along? As you've upgraded to the latest patch the air ASW should be reasonable now.

We have and my subs are moving into position again to get ready for a blitz on his LOC's

I figure if I can close the Tarakan straight with Liberators out of Wasile then he will have to send all his tankers the Northern Route [:D][:D][:D]

My subs will be waiting.........................................

Andy,
Just curious on how long a typical turn takes you considering the amount of forces at your disposal??  The AAR dosen't count. Some of us long suffering Allied players live through your play to have such a force at our disposal. [&o]

If I am in mid operation maybe 20 minutes or in stand down mode

If I am in planning phase hours but I tend to plan in between turns rather than on the live turn

Turns do not take long if you document your planning i.e. if you have to check the prep points of every unit every other turn it can take ages do it once and document it and keep it up to date and its easy.

I tend to think in terms of Corps and Armies now anyway [:D][:D]

OK Quiet one except that PZB finally realised the best use of his CV;s [:@]

Commerce raiding is far and away the best use of KB at this stage.

Fast hit and run raids on my supply lines are almost impossibel to entirely stop and with troop convoys at sea cause extreme dislocation !!!!

This is a real threat he has a carrier TF (probably only one CV) between Pearl and Marshalls

There are several spots he can hit me like this a hit and fade operation is really what he should be using carriers for now.

Its harassing and annoying and with a large re deployment of my forces due soon - extremenly annoying !!! In other words its the correct tactic.

The only way to counter it is to have a reaction force nearbye (which I do have but that means that 2 of my CV's lose some yard time and by the time I get there he will have withdrawn).

Looks like I am going to have to strengthen all my convoy escorts [:@][:@]

His oil stockpiles in HI are probably huge. Im not sure inderdicting his oil supply is going to hurt in the short to medium term. By the long time the HI will be under constant attack anyway. But sure will be fun time for the subs [:D]

Hmmm I am not so sure I dont really understand production but just shot down 1,600 aircraft in 10 days ...

He has to produce the aircraft he uses surely his economy is running at high speed now.

Lets say he has 2 or 3 million oil in HI by now what is an average burn rate for the japanese economy.

If he has 2 years supply then I am wasting my time I agree if he has 12 months then perhaps not.

You should have a bunch of CVE available for escort.
Also, you can use your death star aggressively to hunt down his navy in his own ports. you'll hurt him more than he will hurt you.

I do I have 8 CVE at Pearl and about another 15 supporting the Wasile Op (mixed CVR CVE)

CVR's are golddust DO NOT convert them into normal CVE's you will need every single CVR you can get your hands on they saved my bacon at Wasile keeping my Hellcat Sqns up to strength

The super coffee the military has works wonders for tired troops.[&o]

Could have used some myself while going through 6 years of college and working full time. [:D]
