STRATEGIC SITUATION AT BURMA

Ok,this theatre of war is the most difficult one so far, because lack of strenght of my forces. That is of course because of Russia adventure which tie up most of my elite forces.

I will explain all at map below,
General Yammamoto decides that main push must be frontal assault on Mandalay and for that cause he ordered troops to clear terrain south of river.

Left group liberate Magwe and push the enemy towards Mandalay, this group consist of
two divisions (55th and 56th),23rd mixed bde along with one tank regiment and eng.reg.
these units will pursue enemy to river crossing south of Mandalay.

Central group will push north from Meiktila towards the river,i am sure that this group will arrive at river crossing before enema which fleeing from Magwe. These enemy formations must be destroyed.
Central group consist off two divisions(Imperial guard and 33rd div.) along with 4th mixed regiment one tank division and artillery. This group is und3er direct command of CinC for Burma operation gen. Yammamoto.

And for now, most important task has the right group. This group today liberate Taung Gyi and has critical task to cut off the Burma road and help our effort in China.
This group consist of 4. mixed bde and one tank regiment.
The orders are clear, press forward to Lashio and cut of Burma road.

The main problem in Burma is great lack of air support,Yammamoto has only few Oscar sentais which are used to protect Rangoon and Bangkok from enemy 4E bombers. Front line troops have no air support and that is a main problem. I can only hope that these elite troops can push to Mandalay with almost everyday allied bombing from bases far north.

Second problem is my left flank,Imperial HQ correctly forseen that enemy reinforcing Andamans and decides that Andaman islands must be liberated to secure safety on left flank. Two brigades loading in Soerabaya to sail north on Andamans. Admiral Tanaka will provide support for this operation with "Indian fleet" which consist of two BBs and escorts.

This operation will be tricky one,and many things depends of pure luck.

After action reports for 5/10/1942 - 5/15/1942

I wasnt able to post last few days but game is on[8D]

BURMA-INDIA

I am still gathering my scattered forces south of Mandalay and i am almost ready to push north across the river-destination Mandalay.
Enemy unit which blocking the road on my left flank is pushed back to Mandalay.
As i say before,my lack of air forces in Burma puts me in big trouble because allied 4E bombers start to bomb Rangoon from 6000 feet and airfield is in danger of closing. Because of that annoyance Imperial HQ decides to move four Zero daitais from Russia to Burma along with five crack (90+ exp.) sally squadrons. These forces now resting at Manila and within few days they will be sent to Burma. With these elite forces situation in Burma will be turn to our favor once again.
Invasion of Andamans (Operation "Broken sword) entering in final stage, invasion fleet will join up in two days in waters of Malacca straight and sail to Port Blair. With Andamans liberated i will be able to press on Akyab by the sea.
This operation will be supported by admiral Tanaka "Indian fleet" which bombarding Port Blair almost constantly in last two weeks.

CHINA

My forces push back two chinese unit north of Nanchang and pursue them along the river to Changsha. Everything is ready for upcoming siege of Changsha.
Bombers from Nanchang will tomorrow close airfield at Changsha and bomb the town to stone age.
In northern China enemy pressing on Sian, but he cant do very much here. Troops from Yenen start to march tovard river and i will tra to encircle enemy via Kunchang.
Southern China is quiet for now.

RUSSIA

Very problematic front.
I have air, land and sea superiority here but static unit NE of Vladivostok stop all my efforts to encircle Vlad. Destruction of this unit is painfully slow and will take more than two weeks[:@]

ALEUTIANS

Invasion of Adak island will start tomorrow or day after.
He move some Boston bombers to Adak and try to bombard invasion fleet loading at Kiska. KB provide fighter support and every single Boston is shot down[:D]

Tonight i will post situation maps.

ehheeh, the usual "BLOODY" Hawker[:D]
Your opponent however made a huge mistake not fortifying the hex NE of Vlad. With that hex fortified enough it's nearly impossible go through Vlad frontally...
Now you have the chance of sourrounding the place and the whole Russian Army! Great job Hawker...however, don't waste too much time at Vlad. As soon as he's sorrounded, leave at Vlad only 3000 AVs and disengage the rest of your troops, then move to conquer the rest of Russia, keeping Vlad daily suppressed with tons of bombers in order to drain his supplies. Only when Russia will be conquered, go for the final redoubt: Vladivostok[;)]

Hi General,he has aprox. 300k troops in Vladivostok,in few days they will be sourraunded totally.
I will attack Suchuan with amphibious assault to close all exits for enemy. I have 90 % of all sally bombers in Russia and Vladivostok will be turn to dust.
Look at this way, with VPs for Vladivostok plus VPs for 300 k russians,auto-victory is certain. He plays very well, but he did a mistake in Russia,HE MUST PREVENT ME TO ENTER VLADIVOSTOK.
I remember what you done to stop me at Vlad.[;)]

STRATEGIC SITUATION

GAME DATE 31/5/1942

BURMA-DEI

I think that Japan offensive in Burma going to status quo for now, enemy has 35 units at Mandalay and i dont think that enemy wall will broke. I keep pressure on Mandalay with bombers from Moulmein and AF is closed for now.
My units south of river start to move to Mandalay and in two days they will tra shock attack.
This attack is ordered to cover our right flank which has the most important task to cut off Burma road,i dont expect nothing in Mandalay.
Operation "Sword" ships finally set sail from Malacca straight to Andaman islands covered by Tanaka "Indian fleet".
After all these operations take place i should hold Andamans,Burma road will be cut off and enemy will be hold at Mandalay. I must say that my units will take defensive posture after that because lack of units putting me in bad situation in Burma. I will leave strong garrisons and pull out main units.

On south we establish a strong bases at Kendari,Lautern and Amboina. plenty of supply and these bases is turn to impregnable forces. On this front we start planning defensive to counter enemy attacks in next year.
Soerabaya also turned to big base with forts on max and big AF.
Oil and resource flows peacefully to Japan from here.

CHINA

Units are marching toward Changsha from all directions, few enemy units are encircled and will be destroyed. Changsha is key now, if i manage to take city quickly i will gain momentum once again in China.
Because of his unpopular using 4E monsters on low altitude i decide to destroy resource centers in Changsha. Most of resource centers are destroyed and ma airforce will continue with strategic bombing campaign.
On north,he press on Sian and brought 20 units there, nothing he cant do because i have 3000 APs there and fort level 9. He try to shock attack on Sian and that, not very smart move ends up in disaster for chinese units.

RUSSIA

Main front, units NE from Vladivostok still marching south to complete circle around town, few more days and Vladivostok will be cut off from other Russia bases.
In meantime invasion fleet approaching Suchan from south to cut off last exit from Vladivostok. 40 units will be hopelessly trapo there and auto-victory should occur 1/1/1943.
My air force almost completely wipe out russian air force,he has some air assets which are so tiny that i must proclaim: RUSSIAN AIR FORCE DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE.

ALEUTIANS

Reorganization of forces,i must rest my units for upcoming attack on Dutch Harbor and that should take one month probably. Attu island is reorganization point.
KB sent to Japan for R&R,they deserve it because my CVs almost are almost constantly on sea from start of war and some of them just need little harbor time and refit.

CENTRAL PACIFIC

I dont have much to report here,Wake is fortress now with 100k of supply and big AF.
Kwaielian is also turn to fort along with Tarawa. Enemy cannot do anything here in this year, this theathre should be safe until mid 1943.

SOUTH PACIFIC

After liberation of Milne bay i will start reorganizing troops here,PM is heavily fortified with plenty off supply,Rabaul is main base of operation. Lae is turned to great air base for support PM in future. Problem is that enemy holds Solomons and i just dont have assets to take Lunga,i have one division with SSD and one brigade here and that will not be enough.
Still i will conduct air recon and after that we should see,Lunga is main objective for now,CV Hiyo came to Rabaul to support our interests in south pacific.

Vladivostok start to crumble!

Post by hawker »

Short update

Yamashita preparing troops for over a month and finaly gave order to lunch operation "Sword"
Liberation of Vladivostok.
Every single unit in Vladivostok has 100 prep.,every single unit has full strenght and Empire could not wait any more.

First, highly experienced (85+) IJA bombers cover the sky above Vladivostok and start to soften defences with poor results.

Second, Tanaka BB fleet bombard Vladivostok with less then average result

Third, Army group "South" launch deliberate attack against defenders of Vladivostok and manage to destroy one fort.

Defenders of Vladivostok are out of supply.AF damage is 100 for few days now. There is only matter of time but victory is certain.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Vladivostok

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 488765 troops, 5373 guns, 487 vehicles, Assault Value = 9636

Defending force 250891 troops, 2753 guns, 384 vehicles, Assault Value = 5680

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 8

Japanese max assault: 9738 - adjusted assault: 3878

Allied max defense: 5728 - adjusted defense: 40397

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 8)

Japanese ground losses:
23480 casualties reported
Guns lost 836
Vehicles lost 29

Allied ground losses:
2442 casualties reported
Guns lost 111
Vehicles lost 3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will tonight post some maps of area, just to say,Nikolaevsk is liberated and troops marching via oil pipeline deep in Russia.
