Why? I'm not allowed to show my disapproval? And am I the only one writing in this thread ?

I'm not committed to the quality of the forums or the success of Matrix so do what you want. I don't give a rat's patoot*.

However: For those that dislike this thread and would like

for it to drop off the front page

it's still good advice.

As I mentioned before - if not for the OP's post I would have not known about the s/h overcharge and matrix would have lost a sale on WitP - AE.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention [:)]

This whole experience with Matrix as a company and the forum as a fan base has been quite educational and entertaining for me.

1) Apparently several of you high-and-mighty crowd paid 10X the shipping charges for games and now have to be refunded by Plimus. So much for the educated and well informed.

2) Apparently several of you equate the use of profanity with an assumed lack of education. This in and of itself indicates a lack of education on the part of those who feign offense. Profanity is an ingrained aspect of all facets of culture, moderated or not.

3) The game itself – Conquest of the Aegean – sucks and is not worth the $49.99 I paid for it. It is not an improvement over Highway to the Reich; it is slapped together upgrade that is not worth any more than $9.99 at the most.

While these bullet points are disappointing, they will not keep me away from other promising war games as I tire with Black Ops or Madden. In fact there are quite a few promising titles out there. However one thing for me is crystal clear: The self-appointed purveyors of appropriateness on this forum are no better than the script-kiddies who troll blogs for the latest wall hack.

And no one benefits from that.

RangerX3X, the primary mistake you are making is to assume that there is something like a "Matrix type," including features such as "elitist," "educated," "up on a high horse," "snobbish," "oligarchs," etc.

Probably we have some regulars around here who do fit with some those descriptors. But you'll have to hang around and be friendly if you want to learn that it is not archetypical.

In my experience, we have some very humble, humorous, modest, easy-going, open-minded, friendly, helpful, and pleasant guys on here.

So it seems there was some glitch in the application that calculates shipping? Was that the problem?

Was the problem solved? If so, then what exactly is there to be contentious about at this point?

If there is still a problem of some sort, then, in my expereince explaining to Erik, or one of the other admins in a calm and civil way what the problem is, will result in a resolution. Not too many game publishers where you can say that: talk straight to the top dogs on the forums and get a solution.

ADDIT: the other mistake you are making is to argue against the culture of this board. We avoid profanity on this board. None of us decided that, it is just the culture. Not to say it is the best culture, the right culture, or the only tone and texture for a gamer board. I enjoy the Taleworld's ribaldry myself from time to time.

But on Matrix, profanity is avoided. If nothing else, you should show some respect for the norms of this particular board, if not the broader etiquette of using polite language when communicating with people who you do not know well.

Profanity is to be avoided. We like this forum. Most of our arguments are civil around here. They can get very vocal at times, like any argument. Once that occurs, best to just step away.

I'll agree with these words of yours.

Though, communicating with call it "professionalism", or virtue ,or courteousness will certainly win more respect for you. And suprisingly you will get your point across much better.

Thought - how do people feel about the modification of Huckleberry Finn?

Was Mark Twain unprofessional, without respect and/or virtue?

I think we read a different book. A paradox was created by removing the word - Mr. Clemens knew exactly the power of the word; he used it to move people to the point were it was socially removed. I am saddened by the change, a lesson was lost.

Mahalo for your thoughts!

I don't know what all the talk is about different types of posters and different game genres involvling different attitudes and types. I like wargames and sci-fi games. It has nothing to do with that. The bottom line is that ranger3x3 is just rude. He would be the guy you would see making a scene in a restaurant, or cutting you off in traffic and then flipping you off for being on the same highway as him. He would be the guy who would be loud and obnoxious in any situation where the same could be accomplished without being loud and obnoxious. He's the type of guy you would not want to hang out with. He could easily have made the same point about the price problem without the attitude. Some folks are just full of themselves. And there are forums where loud, rude, obnoxious behavior are the norm, and some where they are the exception. I would hope this would remain one where tantrums are frowned upon, because it is quite possible to make points without yelling and chest thumping.

And I didn't mean to hit the reply button, just to comment.

Ranger posted the following on the very first page:
Alright, I am chilling. Sorry. I was all uber'd-up to get the game then felt a kick in the shorts which translated into an assanine post.

Every sanctimonious poster that piled on after that was rude & full of themselves as well. And none of those holier-than-thou net cops have had the good manners to apologize for their own bad behavior.

Well pointed out MJK.

However, on the whole, I'm very surprised that Erik, David or whoever is representing Matrix here, let this thread degenerate the way it has.

As Judge stated, the Matrix forums are one of the few where people treat each other with courtesy. Either Matrix has fallen asleep on this one or they are away, tied up with personal matters that I hope are not too serious.

But a lesson reminding of the ethos of posting at Matrix is well needed.

I too would have been dumbfounded had I seen the mail costs the OP observed. Yet, I was more worried that it represented an attack or hack into the Matrix shop front.

I hope that's why Matrix hasn't been quiet on this issue.

Anthropoid would be an excellent example of someone on their high horse, and as such his feigned indignation is summarily dismissed as irrelevant. Try coming down off that saddle someday, if you are not already permanently chaffed to it.

Zap would be an excellent example of someone who quotes another, then edits their post to make it convey something it did not originally in an effort to forward their self-righteousness. You should get a job at the New York Times.

JW would be an excellent example of someone who reads one or two posts, then passes judgment on another to the point of piling on warrantless accusations of other activities to which they have absolutely no reasonable insight into. I wonder how many jury pools you have been dismissed from.

This is no different than any other internet game-based forum with the exception that many are of slightly older age which does not necessarily translate into wisdom in all cases.

There are those game owners who never view the forums, those that do view but do not post, those that do post when they feel the necessity (regardless of whether they actually own the game they are posting about or not), and then those who feel the need to assert their control-freak ego’s into the equation to only back off when they are confronted, so as to come back on the subjects flank claiming moral superiority.

What really bothers some of you deep down is that in two posts, I have caused Matrix and Panther to drop their prices (when the vast majority of you advocated maintaining, if not increasing them) & to point out a critical error in their 3rd party ordering system to which some of you willfully paid and were blissfully ignorant to.

Feel free to report me to Matrix if you like – I am a paying customer and have had said nothing in these forums to warrant a ban. And that really makes some of you cringe, obviously.

But alas, I could not care less.

Breaking Rule #1 got a lot of people on your case in the first place (for the vulgarity).

Breaking Rule #5 is self evident in this very post (where you attack 3 members directly).

Breaking Rule #5 could also be covered by the "nyah-nyah-nyah" tone of some of your posts.

Breaking Rule #7 could be covered by your implication in a previous post that the shipping price
mistake was a deliberate attempt by Matrix to "screw" people.

You may not be on as solid ground as you think.

In your case, it shouldn't! (everyone here has the green button option!).

I was always told its was unacceptable. In fact I rarely if ever heard it used untill the whole ganster rap,hip hop scene and the "OJ trial".I know immigrants I work tell me they never even heard the word racism untill they moved to Canada. Its easier to rule a people divided than a collective.Lots of social engineering going on.

Referring to "social acceptability" of something as something that determines its appropriateness makes me suspect that you hate Moral Clarity.

More like primitives overtaking the popular culture. In Poland, practically the only racist people that I encounter (besides white power skinheads) are rap/hip hop lovers. And rap/hip hop is being made by the rock bottom of society, not by anyone that has interest in social engineering. It's popular because for some people ugly streets aren't enough. They need their culture to be as ugly and dirty as the streets. They imagine that it's more honest or something.

If you hadn't pointed out that shipping glitch, somebody else would have have done. Obviously it needed pointing out so what gives you the idea anyone is 'bothered' by you doing it? The idea that anybody was 'wilfully' paying up is absurd. As to 'blissfully ignorant', unless somebody tried to buy a game at the same time or shortly before you did, why would they be otherwise?
