Is This Someone's Sick Joke?

Post by RangerX3X »

I went to order Conquest of the Aegean this evening after seeing where Panther/Matrix dropped the price by $20.

I wanted to order the box shipment and the digital download for $49.99. When I got to the shopping cart, my order was a whopping $103.92, containing a shipping charge of $53.93 for “DHL Express”, the ONLY shipping charge available.

A shipping charge for a PC game that costs more than the game?

Seriously?

How could you – Panther & Matrix – expect anyone to take you seriously as a developer and publisher with this complete BS?

If this is legit, then you guys are way beyond off the chain and deserve to go out of business. If this was a mistake, then you guys have some serious freaking issues to deal with internally.

There is no way I am buying any product from you until this is sorted out.

more likely an error/problem with the Plimus. send an email to Erik Rutins. He should be able to sort it out for you...

I'd be surprised if it wasn't a mistake. I'm sure Erik will have it sorted out.[:)]

I hope it is a mistake. I really want this title. But it is shocking when you are waiting for the price to drop - it happens - then you get tweaked in the cart.

Good grief, take a chill pill. Yeah, that's the only shipping they ever offer and everyone else bar you always pays it without complaint ?! [8|].

Obviously a cock-up in the ordering system (which Matrix contracts out anyway). It even mentions USPS below, so obviously normally it is offered. I'm sure Erik will be on the phone to Plimus pronto.

Alright, I am chilling. Sorry. I was all uber'd-up to get the game then felt a kick in the shorts which translated into an assanine post.

Please do take that chill pill Hertston recommends.

I can't understand such a nasty outburst over something that is without a doubt a mistake. You can't really believe shipping is $53.93. And if you do, well...uh there is nothing anyone can say to that.

At least the good news is that the game is really worth your trials and tribulations; it's the best one Matrix publish, at least of those I've played. 'Bulge' is good, but the scenarios in CotA are just superb and the theatre does suit the system rather better IMHO.

Enjoy when this is sorted!

Isn't that the normal price for DHL international express shipping?
I went to the DHL site and got a quote for express delivery from US to Singapore.
They quoted $80 and I will get it in two days.

But they should at least offer USPS as an option.

Just checked the other games -

Highway to the Reich - $29.99 (digital download + boxed copy) + $53.93 (shipping + handling) = $83.92
Battles from the Bulge - $69.99 (digital download + boxed copy) + $53.93 (shipping + handling) = $123.92

On a one off, I checked an unrelated game -

Flashpoint Germany - $44.99 (digital download + boxed copy) + $53.93 (shipping + handling) = $98.92

As I said above, I hope this is truly a mistake. I can put in any zip code from Jacksonville, FL to Beverley Hills, CA, and the shipping charges are always the same - $53.93.

But I am beginning to suspect it is not. I am wondering if any of their product is located inside the United States, as the ONLY option is DHL Express at $53.93.

The take the trouble to tell you this:

IMPORTANT: International shipments may require duties, brokerage fees, customs fees and/or taxes that you may have to pay which are not included.

But then fail to tell you they are shipping from some overseas location and you are about to be screwed when you get to the shopping cart.

Absolute rubbish.

Edit - The game is available on Ebay for $69.99 + $3.99 regular shipping. To ship it international costs $6.99 first class.

Perhaps there has been some major change [&:] - if so its very recent

I purchased COTA plus WITE & Panzer Command Kharkov just after Christmas - the post/handling in total was $AUD24. Plimus handled the purchase.

I got BFTB two-three months ago - the P&P was nowhere near $54.

Yes, they are. Your comments that is! Look, if it is a cock-up with Plimus wouldn't you expect it to be the same for every game? Why would CotA be singled out? Or the Panther games be singled out?

Matrix are a US company, and their box copies ship from there to US customers. They also ship from Europe to Europeans and others (and did even before their pairing with Slitherene, a UK company). The comments on International shipping are for the benefit of non-US customers. Nobody is screwing anybody - why on earth would they only offer a shipping choice that costs more than the product to their biggest market? It would be business suicide.

Take another chill pill. It isn't going to get sorted until folks are back at work.

BTW, even 'overseas locations' have international regular mail!

Maybe I am just young and of the digital generation. But why in the world does anyone bother to even order a physical copy? It is 10.00 extra for something you can do yourself for .50 cents or if you own a external HDD do for free.
I have only ever paid extra for one Matrix game in both form and that was AE which was special edition.
And those early Matrix games like the Mega Campaigns that were disc only. Maybe I am getting old if I remember those days?

I have every Matrix game I has purchased backed up two ways. Once onto a external HDD and secondly onto a 64 GB flash USB stick. I can maybe understand looking pretty on your shelf, but I have a hard time understanding why anyone would order the game on CD anymore. It's the 21st century ;)

Seriously, Ranger, you should shoot Erik an email if you've not already done so. Something is obviously cocked up with the shipping, and the Matrix guys are going to want to know about it.

I'm curious, how much did you get the 64 gig flash stick before? I'd love to get one.

@RangerX3X just goto NWSonline.com and check the price and shipping there. I'm pretty sure it won't be near that much.
