Thats's because you are trying to transport Commonwealth troops to what is nominally American territory. Set up the No. 205 in northern Borneo (British territory) at Jesselton and you should be able to make a troop air transport out happen. Then from Jesselton you air transport them to Singapore or send a ship to pick them. But you have to work fast as the window gonna close soon. You should be able to get some pieces of those Canadian units out anyway. (Winnipeg and Rifles of Canada)

You might want to change your picture.

Use the pick up troops function, you may have to send supplies there first then switch to pick up troops. Those troops in Hong Kong can go to China which is what I suggested. If you send out troops with no aviation support, then you planes might break and no one can fix them.

VP-21 has 11 aircraft and I've designed their search arcs to try to get a handle on the KB which I believe is within that area somewhere.

Midway can pick up some of the units at Wake.

My max range is supposedly 19 hexes and Wake is 26 hexes away but the aircraft panel is set up ( I''m going to shut down the ASW just dedicate the squadron to troop pickup ). I'd be curious to see if it works.

So the pilots involved get a little bit of everything. That sounds cool and something to consider for the Soviet aircraft. But I'd like to make sure they are competent in their major skills first just in case. But I like the concept. Wish there were some way to exclude certain categories ( like straffing for bombers ). I'd like to see what difference it makes for the Soviets for sure. After I've got some experts I'll branch out to polish my pilots to be able to do just about anything.

I'm sending SS KXVIII ( Dutch with good TT's ) to track down and assault the enemy task force northeast of Davo. It probably won't be in that position for long and it'll take me a couple of days to get there but with any luck at all it'll hang around that zone.

I ran the 09dec41 turn and it turns out that the KB needed to do another visit and clobbered me good. I haven't looked at what's left useable but here's the list of the damaged ships and lots of them are still burning. I'm going to have to retrieve my carriers from where they are and bring them all to here for the support we're going to need to get past this little upset.

I checked out whether or not my troop transfer happened or not and it looks like it actually did work. It's not supposed to since my range doesn't come close to working but appearently it does. Somehow. Does anybody have a clue to how this might work or is it a bug?

Not a bug. You might be conflating range with radius. The manual states that ground units can be moved between friendly bases up to half (50%) the Maximum Range of the carrying aircraft. The maximum (one-way trip) range of a Catalina is 76 hexes. Half of 76 is 38 which is good enough to reach Wake from Midway. You can also look at is as 19 + 19 (Cat extended radius) =38.

Basically, the Catalinas spend the day flying to Wake, they land, unload the troops, refuel at Wake for the trip back (which effectively increases their range) and return to Midway.
