Here's a neat trick. Instead of attacking with everyone I put everything on bombardment except my armor and engineers. I reduce the fortification without the mass disruption and casualties. All the disruption goes to the attacking units but casualties still seem to be distributed evenly across the force. So my engineers are not decimated as I had feared might result from my experiment.

Yup, that's how you reduce fortifications in this game, not by wearing out your infantry.

I have now destroyed 131 resourse centers at very little cost. It begins to look like it will take the whole AVG in order to defend Kumming. But then what happens to his other resourse locations. I can't remember the last time I saw an I-15 or 16.

I think you know why you haven't seen those I planes too much:

All looks stable on my line and the battle in Wuchow appears to be going well. He has 11 corps and 3 divisions there now. With these fighting every day and Wuchow no longer producing he must be having to ship in a ton of supply.

Insurgent forces attacked my bases in Canton when I inadvertanly sent all the ground troops elsewhere. I went to reset my air units there and found 100% port damage and damage to my airfields and resourses as well. Crap.---Dude is losing a couple B-17's a day to operational losses??

Situation in Wuchow desperate. Chinese are the brink of losing yet another city. Although being forced to withdraw wouldn't be too bad as the two forces down there could combine into one force. That would too large of an army for the Japanese to push out of Kweiyang in 1942.

This long period of attrition in Wuchow is coming to a culminating point as the chinese forces are becoming depleted especially in artillery. Unless Dude brings in significant reinforcements the situation is going to get out of hand quickly.

In Chungking Dude is rebuilding the industry that I destroyed. At 1000 sp per resourse point this burns a lot of supply. I don't know how it is possible for him to do this. Perhaps his supply situation is much better than I imagine.

The loss of Wuchow won't be the end of the world. I think the Japanese will be hard pressed to reach Chungking in 1942 at this point. Also Operation "Fortress Parcel Service" has ended as real transports have arrived in India.

Really the city might as well be lost as it no longer is producing. What is does accomplish is to tie my troops down and prevent them from going elsewhere. When this battle ends the next operational phase begins. Until then we're just marking time.
