The fall of Manila

Post by George Patton »

Report of 3/19/42

URSS

Today the soviet bombers began the air campagin against my bases in Manchukuo.

DEI

At Koepang my Nells are operative. They hit the first AK near the Australian coast with 2 torpedos.

I started with the invasion of Java. The convoys sailed today from Singapore. KB is at Balikpapan to refuel and ready to support the invasion. I know that there are some risks to operate in this area with the KB but I need the air cover.

PI

Today finally Manila is fallen. Over 32'000 allied prisoneers are marching to the camps.
Now I send immediately my troops to Clark.

Report of 3/22/42

DEI

The TF leaded by BB Haruna and BB Kongo bombarded Sorebaya: 497 casualties.

The landing in Batavia started this afternoon, with the 2. Inf division.

At Palembang the fort has been reduced to 0.

AUSTRALIA

Today I lost 5 Zero over Darwin, and I shot down 6 Hurricane and 4 P-40.

URSS

My troops at Iman dediced to shock attack the enemy. [&:][&:][&:]
The result is a disaster: 13763 casualties. I never gave them the order to attack. [:@][:@][:@]

In general, in URSS I avoided air battles because my planes are inferior.

The fall of Philippines

Post by George Patton »

Report of 3/23/42

DEI

While I captured Palembang, today my attention is focalized on the landing in Java.
Adi tried a shock attack but he lost over 1000 men.

The KB attacked Batavia's afld, loosing 6 Val, 3 Kate and 1 Zero. I shot down only 5 enemy planes but I hit hard the afld.

Another 10 planes have been shot down by the LR CAP of Zero flying from Singkawang while they attempted to attack my ships.

INDIAN OCEAN

Planes flying from Rangoon hit with 6 bombs an AK at the Andaman I. Adi is concentrating there a lot of troops.By now 3 units with 12000 men.

PI

But the most important thing of today is the occupation of Clark Field. I've lost 1816 men but I captured 43115 allied soldiers that are now marching to the detention camps.
The Philippines campagin is now over. Now the troops will rest a bit and after that I transfer them in URSS: objective Vladivostok!

BURMA

The Imperial Guard division is advancing towards Mytkyina

Report of 3/27/42

DEI

The assault to Batavia has begun. My eng reduced the fort to 4. I've lost 303 men vs 2047 allied. Maybe the next turn Batavia will already fall.

URSS

The soviet troops reached Hailar, in the northern part of Manchukuo and they started the bombardement of the city.
Meanwhile, the 4. Mongolian division is 15 miles far from Tamsag, that seems undefended.

JAPAN

I'm planning a landing at Valdivostok to conquer this important base (1200 VP). At this purpose I'm preparing the 53. Inf Division at Osaka, the 1. Res Tank Rgt (Kitakyushu) and the 6. Res Tank Rgt (Osaka).
Those units will be the reserves to those coming from the Philippines, that will land at Valdivostok. I don't know yet when I will land. The units in the PI need anyway two more weeks of rest and I need a lot of PP so I have to wait as long as I can. Meanwhile I'll look what will be the moves of Adi in URSS.

At Sorebaya the fort has been reduced to 2.

URSS

Fighting are growing at Hailar. I'm sending reinforcement there, to stop the advance of the soviet forces.

Fighting in Java are continuing. Today I landed in Tjilitjap.

BURMA

The Imperial Division is marching towards Ledo and is kicking two brits Base Forces in the middle of the junlge.
Meanwhile Adi ovverrun my troops, and occupied agains Myitkina. There are only 2579 allied men there and the 33. Inf Division is only 30 km away. I will take prisoner all of theme. The way to retreat to Ledo will be closed by the Imperial Division. I will coordinate the attack. First the Imperial will conquer Ledo and the next turn the 33. will occupy Myitkina. [:D]

NORTH PAC

My recond spotted 2 AP heading west just east of Petropavlosk. I'm sending 2 CL and 10 DD there to verify what's going on.

The landing in Tjilitjap is very tough. All my transport ships and the escort have been hit by the coastal defense.
Sorebaya captured today, but was almost completely evacuated: only 1492 prisoners.

How do you know? Is the japanese player informed about that???
If you gained knowledge through the forum, why not putting it into the AE wiki?

The British withdrawl is shown on BOTH intel screens. If he makes the withdrawl, Japan can see that the requirement is gone.

And waiting until the last day of the month to withdraw does NOT work. During ther replay for the first of the month, both players will see a message something to the effect of, "withdrawl penalty paid..."

So yes, Japan knows if Britian pulls the ships or not.

Exactly. But anyway Adi could use his ships for an entire month. It could be fine to find them before they can leave. [:D]

The surface TF that I sent to Petropavlovsk sunk 2 AK there. I don't know what they were unloading. I think some A/C.

CHINA

Since 3 or 4 days I started a bog air campaign against the production centers of China.

DEI

Sumatra: Adi came back with some troops forced to retreat from Palembang and tried a shock attack without success.
From Palembang I'm sending some TF to land in Teloekbetoeng and to the other bases on the west coast.

Java: I captured Tjilitjap with the 18. Division. Now my troops can march towards Bandoeng. I have the rest of the troops landed in Batavia descending, so that the dutch troops in Bandoen will be trapped and will be forced to surrender.

CV Hiryu and CV Zuikaku have been detached from KB. They need to be repaired. Both carriers are at sys damage 26. CV Junyo is coming to join the KB that is cruising in the Indian Ocean.

URSS

The soviet occupied again Oboto. My mongolian troops are retreating now towards Tabun-Nur. From south other troops are coming, including the 41. Infantry Division.
Also Tamsag is now in danger. More than 15000 soviet troops are marching towards the base.
At Hailar the soviet troops attacked, reducing the fort to 4. The 11. division joined the garrison, but it seems is not enough to stop the 75000 and 840 guns. The soviet artillery is very impressive. [:(]
I don't know how long they can resist, anyway I'm sending the 19. division form Harbin.

DEI

I landed troops in Sinkep I., south of Singapore, and to Teloekbetong.
Reinforcement have also landed in Madang, to reinforce the troops arrived there form Soerabaya. The will attack immediately.

INDIAN OCEAN

At Rangoon I'm loading the 23. Mix Bde and at Singapore I'm loading the 35. bde. They will land in the Andaman Is.
11000 enemy troops are spotted there and it will be a good booty.

BURMA

The 33. Division is marching towards Myitkyina, coming from Mandalaya, and kicking some brits troops encountered in the middle of the jungle.
The Imperial Division is marching towards Ledo, but this seems to be a very though job. Only 4 miles in 5 days!!!
The 55. Division, instead, is marching from Lashio towards Yunan, and she is 180 miles away.

I have a couple of annoying things. Some enemy troops have arrived in two of my bases. One is Bulla, S of Amboina, and the other is Pomala, N. of Kendari. There are no jap troops there, and I'm sure Adi will attack on both sites only to force me to reply. There will be no problem to retake the bases, but is a waste of time and fuel.

INDIAN OCEAN

With a naval bombardement, today I started the operation Diamond, the Andaman Invasion.
BB Yamashiro, with 6 DD caused a lot of damages on the island.
Now, two convoys, one with 23. Mixed Bde coming from Rabaul, and the other, with 35. Bde coming from Singapore, are heading towards the islands.

DEI

My troops occupied Sinkep I., capturing 2922 dutch soldiers.

The 2. divisione arrived at Bandoeng. Now she will conduct some bombardements, until the 5th will join. She's still 60 miles north.

The 4. Mix Rgt has landed at Teloekbetoeng and is ready to attack but before I want to occupy Benkolen, to close the retiring escaping route and force the garrison to surrender.
