Hi, Required victory ratios are 4-1 in 43 3-1 in 44 and 2-1 in 45/46. So if Japan has 40k points the Allies need 160k in 43, 120k in 44 and 80k in 45/46
Of course the Allies can reduce the Japanese total while adding to their own by taking bases.

I know, Japan has close to 40k points in the bag (aircraft, LCU, and ship kills). These points can't be taken away. Of course in total Japan has around 56k points but the base points can be lost.

When you add up future Allied losses in ships, LCUs, and aircraft they will probably need at least 150k in 1945/1946. Japan will be able to retain their victory points in mainland Asia unless the Allies decide to divert a huge amount of resources. I doubt they will do this. Instead they will invade Japan after getting all the points from bombing the industry and resources. Zeta is currently around 30k points so he has a ways to go.

Hi, If you currently have 56k in VP and Zeta has 30k then he needs to score 92k more points before the game ends.
Future loss will favor Zeta as the Japanese run of the means of inflicting damage.
Base Captures will reduce the Japanese total (no matter what a base is worth to the Allies)

I think he is in fine shape. He has a year to isolate Japanese forward bases and then a year to take them. Out of supply units defend at 25 percent (or less) and out of supply ships and aircraft are points on the hoof. Give the game another 6 months and we will have a better assessment of what the Allies will need.
1944 Japanese do not fight like 1941 Japanese but they count just as much in Allied VP.
No matter what the troop number Japan has in any area it is a handicap if they are not supplied.

I dont like to interfere in AAR but... Are you actually saying the US carrier are operating into the South China Sea ? Because if that so I think the entire notion of Defense Perimenter have already crumbled...

With the quality of pilots left, to throw an attack against US Carrier battlegroups is just like throwing chaffe into a fire....the Japanese will need to reorganize & try to hit them with overwhelming numbers (or kamikaze's).

It's worse than that -
Day Air attack on TF, near Morotai at 43,68
British attack a fuel convoy.

Allied aircraft
Hellcat II x 26
Barracuda x 26
Avenger I x 15

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
MSW Choun Maru #8
TK Tennan Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire
TK Yamazuru Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire
MSW Bisan Maru
TK Chiyoda Maru, Torpedo hits 5, on fire, heavy damage

It's a British Carrier TF.

If you scan back to Zeta's last reckoning of the Japanese losses you will see that WITP_Dude's IJN is pretty much in worse shape than they were historically up to the Battle of Leyte Gulf (October 1944), and it's only October 1943 in the game.

Zeta's Allies have a free hand when it comes to attacking anything afloat.
I never blame myself when I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how can I get mad at myself?

With the quality of pilots left, to throw an attack against US Carrier battlegroups is just like throwing chaffe into a fire....the Japanese will need to reorganize & try to hit them with overwhelming numbers (or kamikaze's).

Exactly. I should have some large A6M5 formations with new pilots arriving soon, they will have to be mixed with the new Betties to counterattack at some point. Also the new torpedo and dive bombers will begin production soon.

Hi, I want to say that all things considered you (WITP-Dude) have done a remarkable job.
This is a great AAR and study of the game. Many things are being learned (and yet to be learned) I'd like to at some future date try my hand as the Allies in a 1 day game that lets you use your experiance to explore further.
(I think I might be the most cowardly Japanese around and yet I am not cowardly as the Allies early)

I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a different direction!

He did a great job at the start. He hit every where. Caught me off guard in China, and I will admit I suck at the land part of this game. Once he had China every thing in Asia began to role. He did a good job of taking PH and the other Islands. He over extended him self in trying to move towards NZ and father in Alaska. As you can see once the Japaanese begin to lose a lot of pilots things go south for their airforce quick. Would one day turns made a difference? I don't know. Mogami would have done a better job than I did. I feel that I have gotten better as the game has gone a long, will I win the points battle? I don't know, I will try my hardest. Will this game make it to 45? I think it will. I have learned a ton from this game, I am sure Dude has too. I think this is the longest a game has gone. I hope people are learning a few things from this game.

Next time I will try the anti-Hirohito approach. Will I invade Tawara, I'm not sure yet. [:D]

I notice that nothing was firing back at the battleships in Hawaii.

Yes I do, but my bombardments suck compared to his. Look back a couple of turns and see his bombardmentgot over 1000 while mine get 42.

Zeta,

It's because of the fort level. I bet PH has forts of 9. Your new invasion has forts of 0 (I think).

High fort levels REALLY reduce the amount of damage that troops take from any kind of attack (air bombardment, sea bombardment and LCU attacks)

At least, that's what I think is happening.

That makes since, but in other PBEM's I have had troops at level 9 forts and they take a ton of damage from 2 bb's and a couple of crusiers. when he bombarded the base on the tip of NG it had a fort level of 3.

Just a paranoid suspicion on my part here. You've been bombing Pearl for months nows, so the units there are probably pretty heavily disrupted. I've noticed in my own game that casualties drop over time during sustained bombing. I think that the more disruption a LCU has, the fewer casualties it takes from air and naval attack.

(I'm sure that Mogami or someone like him is going to now say I'm wrong, but they don't know either. Only the programmers know and they ain't talking.)

Good point. We don't know half of what goes on in the game.
