Oh, with all the Matrix admitted T's to be crossed and I's to be dotted, "sometime" for a release date seems almost more accurate than pulling a time frame from wherever one pulls it.

Gotta say I agree with this. Last we were told the remaining issues had been taken care of and everything was good to go. Time frame was what? Two weeks? Soon? Whatever, at this point I have to wonder does it matter?

Nothing personal against GP or any of the others who either worked on, or tested this final patch. You did your best, but Matrix needs to stop pulling our collective chains. Enough is enough. Release or don't release Matrix. Just get it over with.

Then just ask for the release with the problems that they have noted which have not necessarily been fixed but don't complain if/when you have problems with the FREE patch.

Personally, I would rather have something with all noted problems fixed than have known issues in a patch that they will not fix since this is supposed to the the LAST patch for this older game.

Joe,

I DO realize that it is a FREE patch, as you always remind everyone. My issue/complaint is with Matrix NOT you or anyone else. Unless I've forgotten something, Gen. Patton stated on June 30, at 7:34 that "it's been fixed, hopefully a week or two." To me that meant that ALL outstanding issues had been taken care of. I was happy to hear that, accepted it, and now 18 days have passed. That's why I'm disappointed in Matrix, and ONLY Matrix.

Once again, I AM NOT criticizing you, GP, or anyone else who in good faith has worked on the patch and helped correct any outstanding issues. I do wonder at times why it is that some people with high post counts seem to get so defensive about anything that is in the slightest critical of Matrix or WiTP? Once again, I DO know the patch is final and FREE, but thanks for taking the time to remind me. Honestly, if you have some insight as to what is really going on behind the scenes, I'd really appreciate hearing.

I don't know but I could ask someone if you want me to ask. But if the developer/update team is finished fixing the issue(s) that was found, then it would be back to Matrix.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd appreciate it if you would give it a try and ask around. I don't think anything could be more confused (at least to me) than the current situation.

I suspect that you're right, and it's a Matrix thing, but you never know someone in their hierarchy might take pity on us. Thanks for offering to make the effort in any case.

Less of this, thanks.

I understand the frustration of waiting for a patch/update for a game, but having spent enough time on the "other side" I realize there is a whole lot of moving parts going on to ensure updates and patches are stable and don't cause unforseen issues.

As others have said here, please give people time to ensure all the boxes are ticked.
Edmon, as an official Matrix representative, it would seem you're the perfect person to help answer this question and in so doing, perhaps tamp down some of the emotions surrounding is issue.

Please inquire of your colleagues the estimated release date of this beta. No one is looking for a firm promise of this day or that. That simply wouldn't be realistic. Just an estimate.

It's no exaggeration to say you'd be somewhat of a forum hero if you could give us at least a rough estimate.

Thank you.

Is that the one I found out about by reading an AAR?

Okay, it is getting closer. Apparently the finish line is in sight. Now as long as the finish line is not moved farther away . . .

Well, sounds to me like maybe the 2nd or 3rd week of August, and that's a big maybe - depends on how you want to view the phrase "a few" I guess. We'll just have to wait and see. I really can't conceive of any more last minute, or second problems being found after all this, but now that I've said that.....

Anyway, thanks Joe and Gen. Patton for the update.

Well, I did mention one issue and I don't know if they fixed it or not. I won't go into more details but I think that, from what I was told, that now it is more like the final detailing of an automobile before it is sold. Also, since this is "free" it may (or may not) be a lower priority than something new (like Steel Tigers!) that has been promised for years.

I think it would have been better to just surprise everyone with a final patch instead of announcing it, what 2 or 3 years ago? I can't help but laugh. I love that this game is still getting any support at all, but at this point maybe Star Citizen will get released before this patch drops.

In two weeks I retire, and I see the final update (whenever it appears) as a retirement gift.

Thanks to all who have worked on the final update for the game.

As you can see, I joined Matrix a few moons ago, but just saying I always stuck with Matrix games because of their great support. Like everyone else, I'm very grateful this old game has dedicated followers that are willing to take the time to continue to tweak it towards perfection. I believe the frustration we all feel is being left in a vacuum when years ago it looked like an update was imminent. So be it, winter is approaching for us north of the equator and I hope by then we all have a hobby to delve into.
