Hi Alfred, could expound on that just a little further. I don't see anything evident but i would like to learn more from the experts.ORIGINAL: Alfred
Interesting is his use of the Babs. Suggests to me it is being used sub optimally.
Alfred
Four turns (really only 3) into the war and Japan has already lost 5 Babs. The Babs is a Recon aircraft. With proper handling both flak and operational losses should be minimal.
1. At the start of the war it equips IJA recon units which are situated in areas where Allied flak is weak.
2. With its maximum altitude, it should be able to fly above almost whatever Allied flak it is going to encounter in December 1941.
3. Losing 1 per turn as an operational loss suggests he is flying all of them at extended distance. That should be largely unnecessary. Japan does not need long range intel of Chinese movements at this stage of the war. There are enough targets within normal range to occupy the Babs units. Those units not close enough should be training recon pilots for the units flying the much more capable Dinah.
This loss rate is unsupportable. Recon aircraft can be intercepted by enemy aircraft and flak but their loss rates to these causes should be very, very low. Operational losses should dominate but closer to 2-3 per month.
