German strategy for first blizzard

Post by Kuniworth »

Hi, I was wondering about how to face up against the russian counter-offensive. In time we talkin about maybe 17-18 turns of blizzard between dec´41 and march´42. How important is it for the germans to hold their lines except for the first few turns when combat value still is relative high? Wouldn´t be better to stand and fight for 2-3 turns than retreat let´s say 10 hexes(5 turns as soviet armies moves 2 hexes), and then stand and fight again to minimize casualties?

My question is how much ground can the wehrmacht afford to give up, and how much ground(in hexes) will be lost anyway trying to resist?

Thats something I,m wondering myself right now.
I thik it depends mainly on how weakened Soviets are after blitzkrieg, but I think loosing ground its not a big problem. From other you gonna loose troops to atrition anyway...
I always withdraw panzers to save them and build up for summer offensive, so infantry does the winter job with as much help from air as possible.
In one of my games I'm in january 42 and Wehrmacht almost holds oryginal line, so its not that bed.
