Text is Garbled

Post by Truckeeskibum »

I'm new to WIR. Just downloaded the game on recomendation from a friend. The game appears to load and function properly. However, alot the text has strange characters and is unintelligible.

I'm sure this problem has been discussed befoere, but I couldn't find any info.

I'm running a Compaq Presario/900 mhx AMD processor with Windows ME as the OS.

Anyone have any answer ?

You are right, this is a known problem. The problem is actually in the Compaq BIOS on your computer, and what you need to do is get a BIOS update from the Compaq web site. That is all I know about it. There used to be a search function for messages, but I don't see it now. It has been quite awhile since this was last discussed, so finding the original message on the solution will be hard to find without being able to search.

Compaq has removed the EGA/CGA fonts from some BIOSes. There is downloads at http://www.compaq.com, check under support, presario, your model #. If that fails, send a mail to the support or to me at magnus.olsson@compaq.com.
