How to get russian divs more experienced

I am a beginner and I am now playing against the germans vs AI (I don't know how to PBEM without Internet in my home).

While retreating i try to make my divs fight a little in order to gain exp. And it works : one fight and their exp reaches 40 - very good compared to the 20 in the beginning. But after 4 weeks later I've noticed that units stationned in Caucase for example have 40 exp and they are FULL strength whereas my "experinced" units are not full strength and their exp may drop when receiving new squads.

The QUESTION is : is it a good idea to make russians fight in the beginng, since they gain experience very quickly in the beginnig, without fight.

At the present I play in August and Germans are stopped in the baltics and in Kiev and they can't beat my Tank armies with T-34 and exp 50. The Ai is very stupid. But My armies in Vitebsk region are shattered <img src="frown.gif" border="0"> I didn't have enough rail points to transert tank armies there.

It comes down to this.
If you can build a double line between Vyasma and moskow with armies containing divs with training 'round 50 then you are doing a good job.
(each army of 7 inf,1 art or 4 inf,1 tank,1 art)

Everything else is merde.

I have already done this line but only with 1 divison in each corps - no more rail points for the moment. But i am only in august.

I eanted to know if it is worth fighting in order to gain experience before retreating

Trying to fight early on, when not necessary, is normally a waste of manpower. The units are easy to cut off, capture, destroy or shatter. Until you can build a reasonably strong line, or are threatened by only isolated panzer korps, you are better off trying to cut the supply lines to the spearheads if you can't get away, or concentrate on holding cities and river lines where possible. Otherwise, any experience gain, as you suspect, is going to be lost through replacements or total loss of the unit.

Against the AI it is not as risky, but even then try to build up entrenched lines in the rear and when attacked, pull back when the line is threatened with holes to avoid encirclements. At this point, you just want to gain time, and the loss of men is okay if it buys you time, but otherwise it generally is not.

You dont need Internet at home to play PBEM.
It's quite easy : you make your turn, save it, then zip 3 save files, save zip on floppy and you can send this zip file to your opp from anywhere ( internet cafe, work, school etc.)

OK, thanks. But this way I'll be able to see where are my opponent's units when I choose to play "Both Juman"!!! Isn't there a danger of cheating?

If you want to play PBEM against another person. You should choose "Secure PBEM" from the main menu instead of "Both human" this way you both get to choose a personal password that'll protect you and your opponent from this problem.
