Fall Weiss in TOAW 3

Post by desert »

I am playing the Germans/Soviets in the Scenario Fall Weiss,in WW2 Miscellaneous. It is already turn 18,for me.The scenario description says the Soviets entered the war on September 17,and,since the turns are one day long,it is sept.18.The description also gave a list of cities, and said that if you take at least one,the Soviets will enter the war.I have captured one of the listed cities, and, the point is,the excusion zone is still around the Soviet army.I can only use the Soviet airforce, and the 3 or 4 MP units that were on the exclusion line(I found I could move them into the battle zone, but none of the other troops.CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHATS GOING ON?

I'm not familiar with that particular scenario, but keep in mind that exclusion zones aren't removed until after the event that does so is triggered. Events are activated during the inter-turn Automatic Bookkeeping Phase (ABP). So, if you take the required hex on turn N, the the earliest that the exclusion zone can be lifted is turn N+1. Sometimes the designer puts a delay into effect, as well, which might push out the removal to N+2, N+3, ... .

Maybe someone with a little more familiarity with the scenario can chime in here?

Well,Im about to capture another listed city,so I will know that something is definitely wrong if the exclusion zone doesnt go away next turn.

Indeed, the events in question have a delay of one. This means if the hex is captured on the 17th, the zone will not be removed until the 19th.

ok,thanks.the funny thing is,I have lost 10000-25000 more men, about halfway in the scenario than the Germans did in the entire operation. And I'm not just talking about the squads and teams,I'm making a generalization to include all the drivers and pilots and gunners and all that.on the plus side, the Poles have lost 30000-50000 more than they did in the real world.

Hi, It's Maciek from CSTO Group (the authors of the Fall Weiss scenario in TOAW III).
Nice to know You play it. Do You like it?
Do You play with another person or AI?
I can't answer for "technical" part of scenario (I'm responsible for OOB's, historical research...)
You're invited on our forum. It's in Polish but we have foreign language part:

Plaese send us Your ideas to improve it.

And we recommand our another scenario "Polish-Russian War 1920" - begining frustrating for Soviet player but "tide is turning" when Budionny's Konarmia & Tukhachevsky's forces arrive...

Don't suppose you have TOAW-CW? There's another Poland scenario I'd recommend to you if you do.

"Absolutely nothing."
