Which Troops where?

Hi
I'm pushing the Jap forces north. Doing a little island hopping.
The main question that I have; Which troops are the most best to be using?
Ex. scen."Road to Munda" I have the 43rd Div, Americal Div available plus the marines. Can I split the Div or should they stick together and land on the same Island?

Would appreciate tips and help from some seasoned Vets.
I am still only getting a hang on the game and still fighting the AI.

For amphib invasions make sure you recon your intended target to get an idea as to the forces defending it. Then you can decide how many troops you think you need.

Best advice is that you can never have enough troops invading a defended base. Use the marines, they're specially designed to die on beaches.

After you've taken the island make sure you let them rest to get their fatigue/disruption and disabled values down prior to using them again.
