I cant amphibeously invade. Did I miss something in the book? I strat move my infantry to the sea area around an island and I get "illegal move " when I try to invade!

Can you provide a screenshot? It could be any number of things. Is it Winter? Do you have supplies available to pay for the invasion? Do you have amphib capacity left in the sea zone (different than transport capacity)?

Ditto above, also, if your unit starts on a transport and not land, that is also a no go, it must start on land.

I dont think that was the case in WaW. It is in AWD, but it WaW I seem to remember pre-positions troops at sea in preparation for the Pearl Harbor turn.
