Airborne Depot received a facelift

Post by El Savior »

Hi all!

I want to inform that my HTTR/COTA site has finally received modern look. All HTTR scenarios are still available for downloads and there is now added COTA downloads section. If you have a scenario, please send it to me and I will host it.

Please visit new Airborne Depot

Cheers,

El Savior,

Nice! Well Done.

BTW I noticed one small typo on your Home page - "visually enchanged" should be "visually enhanced", I think.

Thanks!

Fixed the typo. There are tons of them more I'm sure, but at least one was fixed. Native Finnish can't spell. [;)]

El Savior,

two thumbs up here !!!

I'm glad to see your site updated and that you keep on the good work.
Now I have to follow your example and keep on updating mine. [:)]

Nice job on the relooking.
I'd give more contrast on the color scheme. Black on dark gray is not very readable. If you're undecided, a pure black on white is always efficient.
Home page title is "BigDesigns", a bit strange.

Regarding additional links, don't forget to add the ones on this page : COTA Community.
I would be pleased if you add The Drop Zone to your link page.
And I guess Rooster wouldn't mind if you add a link to his blog.

I don't have bookmarks. They're not convenient when you've got multiple computers you surf on and multiple browsers. I've got a links.html file on a usb key to have my links where-ever I am

Eddy,

if you can stand/trust signing up to Google and you would like (should) switch over to Firefox (browser) then there is a Firefox extention from Google (Browser Sync) which doest just what you are looking for: it syncronizes a users browsers on multiple machines, and not just bookmarks, but cookies, passwords and even the status of open tabs and browser history.

Just thought you might be interested.

Moreover, Firefox saves its bookmarks in a standard HTML file named (how clever!) bookmarks.html.
Time to switch maybe ! [;)]

BTW, I don't have a lot of bookmarks either : Internet is too volatile. Google is my friend.

Of course you can add my HttR mod as well. What? You did already? No problem. [;)]
Black on dark gray is not very readable.

I second that. I would use a lighter gray for the background.

Once our Holland 1940 scenario is ready we 'll let you know. Keep up the good work!

It would be handy of there were tips on how to improve your play.

And if there were specific tips on how to win one one scenario played from one side or the other.

Points noted. Maybe these will be added later.

Jef:

I updated my site and I'n now using lighter grey. You was right, dark gray and black text is a bit hard to read. Hopefully now text is more readable.

Rooster:

I added your site to list

Also COTA downloads section is updated and several links added.

Great job, and very nice content [;)].

I too however would ask for a lighter colored background. I still find it pretty hard to read.

Cheers,
Pietro.

Nice design, but it is still a bit hard to read, partially:
I recommend exchanging the background - maybe swap the background colour (i'm looking at the index-page atm), the light grey, with the darker grey inside of the "box" frame. This would be even more readable, imho.
Also, the links in the "Welcome" section ("COTA", "HTTR") are barely visible on my screen: The colour u're using for highlighted links would be perfect here. It would be nice if you'd change the link-colour for all links to the "hover"-colour (#9DB54A), the general style wouldn't be killed that way .... or maybe change link colours to "white" with light green as hover-color or maybe even better the other way round :).

Same with "headlines" in the download section: The Scenario names (with their dark green-ish colours) are barely visible, imo. Changing to white or some light green (*whisper: #9DB54A*) :) would get it more crisp.

Good job on the rest: 4.9 of 5 points :D

I'll swap the background color to table background color to make it lighter gray. Links are now blue, but probably too dark. I will change these too. My LCD-monitor shows color just fine, but I know that not all monitors are able to show colors that fine. I'll fix link colors now and do the rest probably after the weekend. I need to edit several GIFs color near the buttons to fix the bacground, so it'll take little longer to fix than changing link colors.

Thanks for the feedback guys! It's always welcome!

PS Added: Please go and see my site now with new link colors. Are they better now? Remember to click Browser's REFRESH-button after entering the site.
