Problem loading campaigns

I just purchased Panzer Command and cannot load a campaign. I choose campaign, then choose the units and hit start. The loading bar appears briefly and then I am returned to the main menu. I saw something in the forum about an arial font problem, but I deleted the arial fonts and still have this problem.

The same thing happens when I try to load a battle.

Curiously, I solved my problem by turning off my antivirus program. I use Microsoft's OneCare. Why would this work?
