Why show AI's different "tests" rather than just final?

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Why show AI's different "tests" rather than just final?

Post by neveS »

This really annoyed me at first until I read here about setting the animation speed value to something miniscule. I don't like to have them off completely so this is the best compromise. However, I just don't see why the user needs to witness these test runs at all. That should be internal decision making stuff only. Frankly, all the voodoo moves that I have to sit and watch make it very difficult to track where AI troops are being moved from and sometimes it makes me wonder if the AI is getting away with moving units further in a turn that should be allowed (for instance units getting away with tatical movements after having used strategic moves).

This reminds me, when AI attacks your units or land, you should be able to pause and see the individual battle results for that. Otherwise sometimes I swear the AI is being given victories it doesnt really deserve. Maybe there is a way to do that i havent noticed yet, but so far seems like you get a destroyed/damage popup and thats it.

You can click on the small pause button of the combat report to have enough time to read it. You should also be able to use the button with an explosion symbol to study the report in detail.

ah yes, i see that now. That helps since i can see which of their units are hurting me the most when they attack. Of course with the good comes the bad... like seeing your panzer division get only 3 die and rolls 1 1 1 on top of it. [:D]
