Getting started...

Post by Neptune »

Hello. I'm new to TOAW and looking for some info that may help me get a hang of the game. I have experience with tacops4 and and a fair amount of knowledge of doctrine at the tactical level. I am mostly interested in modern warfare and hence, the modern scenarios. I went throught the tutorial so I understand how the basic attacks and movement work. However, when I load up a scenario it is a little overwhelming. There are simply too many different units and factors to be consisdered, and the overall goal is too vague for me to really know how to begin and what to do. Can anyone recommend a tutorial/scenario/AAR that gives examples on how to employ your forces during gameplay, and how to use the combined arms cohesively and effectively? I have some experience but every game has its peculiarities. Any help appreciated.

Hi Neptune,

Thanks for the purchase. Hope you'll find many years of enjoyment with it. Try following through all four tutorials, at first. Then, maybe try Arracourt '44, in the Classic TOAW folder. It's a small and quick scenario, so it'll be easier to keep your focus. The scenario favors the Americans, so try them first.

I'm going to move this to the main forum, since this one is for support issues, as opposed to gameplay questions. You should get a lot more response from it being in there.

Whoops...I overlooked the other three missions in the tutorial folder. Only tried "tutorial". Thanks I'll work through those three as well.
