Missing wingmen?

Post by Sphynx »

I just noticed something while flying missions against Foothill Base. When I choose the mission, it says my wing should consist of 4 ships. When I issue radio orders, I hear 3 wingmen responding, but when I look around me I can only every find one of my wingmen. When we break orbit and attack the base, I still hear 3 wingmen responding, but there are only two of us.

So, I guess I'm thinking that somehow two of my wingmen are missing, although I can hear them. This seems to be the case with every mission in which I am leading a flight of 4 ships. So, please let me know if the voices are just there to add an illussion of a larger strike wing, or whether or not the other ships should actually be there. If they should be there, is there a way to fix it so that they are? Thanks in advance!

Maybe you atuopiloted off before they could launch, so you left them behind? I've had problems on occasion when flying patrols, with my 1 wingman, who decides to fly off north no matter what orders i give him (form wing, attack target).

I suppose that is possible. I'll see if I can do one of those missions without it happening. So far, though, I've reproduced it every time.

Since you always fly as the lead jet, once you launch, slow down to about 200 and DO NOT hit autonav. It takes about 15 seconds per jet to launch and your flight doesn't always launch one right after the other. Wait until you can visually see all of your wingmen in formation, then speed up, then hit autonav. Try doing the same thing after orbit/deorbit manuevers. It helps keep you alive if you are not so far in front that everything that wants to shoot at you, has you as the only target.

Yes, that seems to have done it. Thanks!
