I suggest that for power to distribute by internet the programs of great size, make it to be possible split into parts of 50 Mb, and they do not discontinue by this the games development so waited as Pacific war and War in Russia, and not only one update for DOS.

If you have been following the converstion, the guys at matrix have already determined that Huge downloads are not a feasible way of marketing games. Very few people have DSL and other ultra fast connections. They ar expensive and are mainly used for businesses. the vast majority of users still have Telephone modems as thier means of connection and you have to cater marketing to the most users. Also a great many people prefer to have their games on CD incase something goes wrong and they have to reinstall. They don't want to go through a huge download again.....

DSL expensive? I pay $50 a month for 784 K download, and that includes the ISP. That was the same cost when I had my 2nd phone line dedicated to Internet. In fact I'm even saving money! DSL definitely not expensive if you're lucky like me to have it in your area.

Off topic, I have to say that costs are even lower in in Canada. 1-Mbps ADSL access is 27US/month while more widespread 30-Mbps cable modem access costs just $24US. Despite this, I can still see the appeal of having the game on CD-ROM since not everyone has a CD-R burner.

I have a cable modem and 400 MB d/l's are cake. SPWAW cd version took 45 minutes. One way around the controversy is to offer it on cdrom for a low charge, like $10 to cover minimum shipping and production costs. I'd pay more of course as these are my two favorite wargames on PC of all time!
