Thumbs Up: Camera Function

A brand new campaign-based 3D tactical engine covering combat in World War II, from the developers at Koios Works. The first operation covered is the famous "Wintergewitter" or Winter Storm, a desperate attempt by Hoth's 57th Panzer Korps to break through to the encircled 6th Armee at Stalingrad and the Soviet counter-attack by 2nd Guards Army that drove them back.

Thumbs Up: Camera Function

Post by Prince of Eckmühl »

To make a long story short, my interaction with players of several older games spurred me to reinstall one of them and re-examine its gameplay. The result was pretty dreadful. I booted into the program, picked a scenario and was greeted by an interface that's downright primitive, particularly in it's camera function.

Thinking back, I never liked wrestling with that darn camera in the older game, manipulating it with buttons, that is. And while I have other complaints with the design, I think that my experience with the camera function in Panzer Command has basically RUINED any possibility that I may have had of playing and enjoying the older game, regardless of any other virtues that it might possess.

So, that's it. Y'alls camera is excellent. If I want it tweaked here are there, I can honestly state that these are mostly a matter of personal preference. Hats off to the developers on this one.

Agreed.

The invert option for the mousewheel tilt view is a great idea. CBWR/TC2M always seemed backwards to me but no way to change it last time I played them.

When I go back to other games, I find myself trying to use the PC style and wondering why nothing is happening, lol.
