Okay Guys..

Post by RevRick »

From about forty eight hours playing with this game I just bought - my personal opinion is that you haven't done one bloody thing to make it any better. It freezes. It locks units down that are supposed to be released. The bloody ([{reorganizing]}) abortion is still running rampant. And for the first time, I am totally sorry I bought a game from Matrix. I had hoped that some of the utter bovine scatology which permeated the first edition, the second improved edition, and the award winning third "IMPROVED" edition would have been corrected. The Turn Hijacking is still running away with itself, and it is being uninstalled as soon as I get off of this forum. GADZOOKS!!!! And it's still my fault because I was stupid enough to by the bloody thing again!!!!

maybe there are problems with your computer,e.g. old drivers, or virus, an old CPU; the game hasn't frozen even once on my computer, it runs perfectly, i can even run a number of them at the same time

'the turn hijacking' is just a characteristic of the TOAW engine, you may like it or not like it, some other systems don't have it - e.g. HPSims games, but with skillful playing, it can be minimised, frankly speaking, i've played a lot of scenarios with TOAW III and i haven't experienced anything unusual as far as turn burning is concerned

reorganizing does sometimes happen, but again i haven't noticed an excess of it, it partly depends on the scenario, and partly on how you play it

it locks units down that are supposed to be released - i don't know what you mean here, could you be more specific

"I don't much care where –" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.

I have been playing for quiet a while and never had a lock up either, so maybe it is your system. As for variable intiative and reorganisation it suggests you maybe just using your troops to hard. Maybe this game just requires a different tempo to which you are used to.

Did you download the latest patch? Do you have specifics on when it freezes? Note that during large scenarios, it can take a while to end a turn. Seeing your .sig, another problem may be that any scenario with a lot of Carriers is going to take a veyr long time at the end of the turn. It's trying to optimize the carrier deployment by looking in a circle around the carriers with the radius of the aircraft range. This can take quite a while.

If you want to discuss the other issues, please post what you're seeing, and why you bleieve it's not correct.

Thanks,
Ralph

Toaw3 can lock up at the end of a turn if you run an old, low RAM, slow CPU Computer, But only when you have 'movies' on (this means the game makes a screenshot of the map at the end of your turn) and you are playing a monster scenario like 'Fire in the East' i.e. - the generated file can be very very big (up to several hundred MBs) as it is a .bmp
