Team game 2 vs 3 - closed

Post by KDonovan »

Hi, I currently have one PBEM going and would like to start another one. Ideally, i would like to get a team game going (2 vs 3) if possible, but i would settle for a 1 on 1 game if thats all i can find.

I would like to play as the Allies as i haven't gotten a handle of the Japanese production system yet. I could play Japan however, if it was a team game, and the other Japanese player handled the production.

I would like to play Scenario 15 either Stock, CHS, Nik Mod, Big B Mod...etc, i don't care really.

A few house rules i must insist on...

- 2 day turns (so we can finish this century)
- Aircraft stacking limits
- PDU's on....no 2E to 4E upgrade

we can discuss more depending on the game type we decide (ie Stock, CHS, Nik, etc)

I might be interested in joining you as a teammate. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to me a team game could be a lot of fun.

From reading your AAR you're doing far better on the offensive in So Pac & Cent Pac than I am in my non-AAR game. (About the same date.) At the same time, I know you dislike ground combat, but I like it. With that in mind I think a combination of me commanding CBI & you all the rest could be quite effective. I wouldn't have time to take on a larger command.

My only must would be that the game is on AB's map. Otherwise, I'd prefer a Nik Mod game, but would be open to any scenario. I've never played 2-day turns, but would be willing to give it a go.

Let me know if you're interested. Of course, there's still the need to find Japanese opponents. [;)]

great!...glad to have you on board ctangus. I've been following your AAR also, you've been doing a nice job with the defense of Java. Would be great to have you on my team.

AB map is fine by me...do you want stock units?..or use CHS units?...either is fine with me. Also do you wanted Extended or Standard map? Nik Mod is fine also, unless we have trouble finding other players..then we can make it non-Nik Mod.

I too like the idea of a team game, as i get to play another PBEM with less effort put into it. I feel that 2 day turns will help expediate the speed of the game, since coordinating up to 5 emails is probably time consuming.

With regards to dividing up the forces, i would like to see if we can get a 3rd allied player, so that it looks like something this...

Ctangus - China, India, SEAC, USSR (if warranted)
KDonovan - Dutch, Australian, New Zealand, SWPAC
"player 3" - USAAFE, SOPAC, CENPAC, NOPAC, Canadian, West Coast

so basically we are still looking for 1 more allied player to take command of the US pacific forces (excluding SWPAC), and possibly 2 more japanaese players.

Either stock or CHS would be fine with me. Extended or standard doesn't matter to me either. While I love the detail that CHS has added, it's become a little cumbersome for me in my '43 game.

I'd prefer to play scenario 141 or 142 (Nik mod, converted to AB's map). Nik's A2A adjustments have made the game far more enjoyable for me. But as long as it's on AB's map, I'd be willing to play any scenario.

Yes. Plus I think the in-house negotiations will be interesting, too - you better leave all P-40B replacements for AVG! [:'(]

Sounds good to me. Of course we need a player 3 plus a couple opponents...

Any takers?

Ok its official. We will be playing

- v1.804 on Andrew Browns Map (standard size), with stock units
- Scenario 142 (Dec 7th Start) using Niks Mod.
- 2 Day turns
- PDU's On.
- all other options negotiable

Now we just have to find some more players....any takers?

How many turns do you think you'd get out in a week?

I could promise at least 5/week, probably more since I have a limited command. With 2 day turns, that's at least 10 days per real-life week. I can't speak for KD, but since he started this thread, I suspect he wants to keep up that rate or better.

Beware - ctangus & KDonovan & (player-to-be-named-later) will be sure to kick some serious Jap butt! I anticipate having brunch in Tokyo by June '43. [:'(]

Bummer. I figure I can do 2-3 turns per week (maybe multiple-turn days on weekends). With 5 people to run the turns thru the logistics seem to lean more towards 2-3 turns per week.

When you guys finally get this going I hope both sides will do an AAR - I'd like to see how the mechanics of a multi-player game work out.

LOL - the allied commanders are already in agreement without any pre-war conferences.

i won't mind 2-3 turns per week. In fact thats what i usually expect in the beginning of the game when the turns are very invovled. Once the game hits may-june 42...everything starts to work like clock work..and thats when i expect turns to be more like 5 turns per week.

are you still interested 1eyedjacks?

Could I entice your team into the extended version of AB map and scenerio 157 (which is 142 with the extended map)? This activates Russia in 1945.
2 day turns R cool
PDU works 4 me 2

Reinforcements Fixed (variable is a pain I can do without)
Sub Doctrine off
Advanced weather effects off
Allied damage control on
Historic Off
Vary Setup off
Surprise on

Auto Upgrades Off

Stacking - Airfield + 50?

Allies run standard 1st turn

Japs keep it real and turn 1 attack must B realistic. No hunting allied carriers on turn 1.

I'm fine with that as long as Ctangus is fine with that. I would ask for Advanced Weather Effects ON though. The other preferences are fine though.

Which player slot would you want to fill...Japan or the Last Allied spot?

Not in a position to play, but would suggest you reconsider this. I have two games where we tried with this on and a monsoon of epic proportions has kept all of SE Asia soaking wet for almost a year. Unless you like flying in Thunderstorms 5 days in every 7....

How would the US Navy be divided up? If I don't have to watch the combat replay and you can talk me through the downloads of the map I may be interested.
