Discontinuity in saved quick games

Post by rcleslie »

I have played several quick games that I saved after about one quarter of play and after my team has scored a TD and made the extra point. Later, when the saved game is loaded my team is almost always (three out of four, I think) given possession of the ball deep in the opponents territory. What gives?

I need to ask a couple of questions.

What build are you using?

What rule set are you using?

Do you save immediately after the PAT, or after the resulting kick off?

Exactly what does 'deep in opponents territory' mean? What yard line does the offense take over on, and is it always the same?

I am using 1.3.84 with American rules. I save immediately after the PAT.

Okay.. thanks.. I take it then that when you reload a saved game, the team takes over on the 2 yardline?

Unfortunately not always the two yard line. Once it was on the 14 if I remember correctly. I think its always been within the red zone. Perhaps I should run off ten quick games with saving after the first TD and PAT and record the data. It may take me awhile, but the data should be helpful if there is any clear pattern.

Actually, the problem is a combination of things. But basically, the game isn't saving information about the fact you have just scored and need to kick off.

While not the perfect solution, what I've done is put restrictions on when you can save games. You will need to be in a regular series of downs to save a game. Kicking off, or in the processes after a TD, the saved game option is disabled. So, instead of the nice to have ability to save games during 100% of the game situations, this restriction means you can only save a game during about 85% of the game situations.

I can live with 85%. I assume your restrictions will be a feature of the fourth build or are they available as a patch?

This change, along with a number of other fixes are already in the code. So it will be in one of the next patches.
