Help!!! I can't install due to CRC error

I just purchased a copy of The Operational Art of War III on CD-ROM, but I cannot install it on my PC because I receive the following error message:

C:\Matrix Games\The Operational Art of War III\Manuals\MG-Winter05-Catalog-[SCREEN].pdf
A decompression error has occured(#7)

File CRC mismatch-Data integrity error

Any help would be much appreciated.

Well, first, for playing the game you don't need it. So, you can click ignore, but maybe wait until someone official pops up here.
The corrupted(?) file is required for the so called game menue. If you select 'quick start' from the windows start menue (see pic) or click the opart3.exe in toaw3's directory you come directly to the game. Attached the so called game menue in an extra post to let you see where the file is probably needed.

Thank you Telumar, but unfortunately I do not have any TOAW III menu on my computer because the CRC error is preventing the program from being installed at all. Has anyone besides me encountered this CRC problem?

I am very sorry for you. From what i have readabout CRC at wikipedia it seems you may need a new disk.
However you can try to clean the disk and retry.. Wait for someone official (Ralph, Jamiam).

Telumar meant that when installing the game, when the error comes up, you should hit ignore. The game should hopefully then install.

Once installed you could then access the game through the quick start menu, which is what I imagine evryone does who plays the game.

P.s.

If you are having disc problems try using the to a check disc function in windows. Look in your help files for the chkdsk command. If your not familiar with it this utility scans your disc and will locate any bad sectors on your disc. Also, I think once these nbad sectors are identified the computer will avoid writing to those areas. If there are more than a couple then it is a definite sign your disc is on the way out.

Email support@matrixgames.com and ask them for help. This sounds like file corruption and there isn't anything that Ralph or I can do to help. See what your options are for redownloading the program, and find out what their standard fix for this type of problem is. Good luck!
