Map / TF Icon Gripes?

Post by Rich Dionne »

I noticed a number of comments on the Pacific War List indicating difficulty finding the TF icons on the new map. I'd like to hear your comments. Do you prefer the classic TF icons (red and blue blocks) over the new style?

For best TF viewing, I press 'x' to temporarily turn off the base flags so I can easily see the TF icons. If people are still having problems with this, please let me know Image

I sometimes find the TF flags a little too small to see. It also looks a little awkward when a TF flag is at the coast and the blue overides the land colour.

By the way...

Have you noticed a graphic bug where you click on UTIL button then choose ALT-SYMBOL to make the bases turn to basic shapes? If you look at Cebu in the Phillipines there will be a graphic image of the Chinese flag over it, where everything other base is squares and triangles? Graphic glitch?

I too was aprehensive about the new TF and SUB icons, but, after a while they seem to really fit into the game. Just give it some time and you will not want the Icons any other way Image

Copy that. New map and old icons would look odd. Never use the base flags anyway, so finding TF flags is no problem.

I can't reproduce that graphic error spotted at Cebu when alt symbol is pressed in the utility menu. Do this happen all the time? Has anyone else noticed this?

I have seen this when I played OBC41 scenario. The top layer will have the American flag over Cebu, when you do ALT-SYMBOL the US flag will disappear reveiling a chinese flag with a yellow background. Every other base will have proper flags or triangles and squares. I don't think this bug appears in the Marianas scenario where Cebu is controlled by Japan.

The new plane and ship sil's are HOT! The
flags on bases (I usually see them when
looking at ground units - ALT-X is a must!)
are nice also. I do however have a gripe
about the map colour. It's a nice jungly
dark green but it's too dark! It's
difficult to see the squares and triangles
of the alternate symbol set because there
is virtually no contrast. It's a dark
colour against a dark colour... I think the
map needs to be a lighter (alas less
pretty/realistic also) shade of green.
