WAW Patch

Post by Bing »

Per TGN site announcement at 5:17 PM, the patch is due out within the next few days.

Some of us really need to know the size this file will be. Anybody know that yet?

Thanks,

Byron Inglesh

At the moment, there are two executable files to be released. They are mech.exe @ 2.8 MB and spwaw.exe @ 20K. These values are for unzipped files.

I do not know what other files might be in the release, sound, art or the like.

Bye...

Thanks, Mike. Looks like it will indeed be a manageable download.

While you're here: Great work on WAW. Smooth running, not a single crash in ten continuous days of playing it, practically nonstop. I've said to people who complain about coding this and coding that: Try it yourself, see how truly difficult it can be.

What is is with the Grigsby stuff? Just seems to keep on running, and running, and ruuning .........

Thanks again,

Byron Inglesh

Yeah, great job on the stability. I alt-tab out of the game with confidence and no problems. The only problem I ever had was the intro movie, which if I tried hitting esc, spacebar, enter etc would give me a direct draw error (think that's what the ddhelp thing is...). That was solved by someone on this board who said a shortcut to intro.exe would skip it and it's been perfect ever since.

Looking FW to the patch, but regardless of what it is like, congrats on version 1 Mike.

How about a feature to review the map at the end of the game, seeing where all units are? I have a demmo version of SP1 on CD that had this feature. It seems that it was removed from the production CD but the code out to be still around and easy to reinstitute.

Also, I play on a 133MHz and I have to set the message delay to minimal in order to play at a reasonable rate. However, this causes me to miss many important messages. Could there be a hot key to replay them or can they be written to a log for review on my turn?

OK, maybe just a bit faded.

The messages are all saved in the .dat file. Some enterprising programmer adept at parsing files may be able to write a little utility to gather them out and write them to a text file that might be easier to review for casualties than watching the video?

This won't work in secure email games however.

Well I'll take a look at the .dat files and see what I can parse out...

An app to display them should be pretty simple.
