Any more 1.3 news?

Post by goodboyladdie »

Hi Tanker

Are you in a position to list the planned changes additions for 1.3? Sorry to be a pain, but the mention of new navies in the thread below has got me salivating in anticipation. I appreciate that you are very busy and this is on the backburner, but it is getting cold here and I need some sneaky peeks at the new stuff to help me through my seasonal adjustment disorder!

Well.... I hate to have to do this, but 1.3 probably isn't going to happen.

I'm trying to get version 1.29 to the testers by early next week, which will in essence be everything BUT the two new navies (although there are still more Dutch and Chinese ships, as well as misc. Japanese and American craft) and new scenarios. I just don't have the time to finish 1.3. A good portion of the work is done, but I just won't have time within the forseable future to finish it. Other projects I'm working on and recent developments in real life have made it an impossible to happen soon.

As to the changes of what will be released, various minor fixes, a ton of new aircraft, new ship classes, especially towards the bottom end of the food chain, changes to the Japanese land and air OOB, and two production campaigns. Plus little things like all destroyers being rerated for 15 knot cruise speed, the new merchant system, landing boats, sampans, and what not.

I'm wanting to shoot to have this all out by Christmas.

The OOB is there for the French and Russian ships, but given other projects and activities it would be months before I could be in a position to finish it and design new scenarios around it. Couple that with the fact most of the beta team has moved on, and 1.3 while possible in the long term is impractical anytime soon.

So, I intend to release what is done up to this point, and God willing the two new navies will see the light of day at some point. It could still happen, but right now it will be impossible for me to complete.

That said, a few Russian ships might get in, but I doubt the entire navy would.

It's disappointing I know, but I'd bet you'll be happy with 1.29's new content.

I am certainly very happy at the 1.29 news. I can hardly wait. Thanks very much for all your hard work in designing and supporting this game. Best of luck with the other things too.[&o]

Btw, I hope that you have enjoyed working on this game as much as I and the other fans enjoy playing it. I am always surprised that this forum is not busier. If it did not sell well, then it's a massive injustice. As soon as the 1.29 changes are available to buy on a disk (I am old fashioned) I am planning to buy it again! It annoys me whan I read posts that complain about the cost of games. WitP and WPO work out extremely cheap when you consider how many hours they get played and the continuing support. The various patches amount to almost an entire new game for free.

Thanks once again to you and your team. Have a happy Christmas.

I'm not sure about the difference betweem 1.29 VS. 131, but I hope some of the WITP 1.8 fixes make into 1.29. I really miss the fixed/working OPS reports and the way mine laying now works in WITP 1.8.
