Jeep Carriers with No air groups!

Post by CliffC »

I am starting to get jeep carriers with no air groups! My first two, the Bogue, have air groups but the latter reinforcements don't!? Any Ideas?

I am not running with full conventional memory, only 572k! I have not been successful in trying to free up that remaining memory, also any ideas on how to free up the memory? Also mapmem no long works so I don't know what the damn thing is loading into conventional memory.

Note; as far as upgrading aircraft on carriers with the low memory error if you key in "C" on the key board you'll get the upgrade screen.

This has been commented on in a previous string. Some of the escort carrier groups have no air groups, because of the limited slots available for air groups in the game. Utilize these carriers in replentish TFs.

Any ideas as to how to free up more conventional memory with win95?

I got the carrier upgrade to work by using manual keystroke, type C and the up grade window appears. It appears the low mem error is a graphics problem.

I usually have configuration problems when it comes to running games on my computer. But the exception is the Matrix PacWar, I've had absolutely no problems in getting it up and running. Hopefully some of the computer oriented individuals can help with this situation.

I have never been able to run a MSDOS based program in Windows before without encountering memory problems or lockups. The Matrix PacWar hasn't given me any problems in installation, or execution. So personally I give a big 'hats off' to the effort in the conversion. Hopefully the problems that some of us are experiencing can be addressed with a 'user group' configuration discussion.

Try looking at some of the other posts on memory problems. The best solutions are discussed in detail in them. Also, there is a current thread in the Tech Support area on this for PacWar specifically also.

Let me just go on record as not liking this solution. I'd much rather give up some of the later appearing LBA units and be able to use the CVE's as CVE's.

The second Bogue x 2, the Sagamon x 1 and a Attacker x 2! CVL's do have air groups when they appear.

Unfortuantly, adding the CVE airgroups would result in too many Allied air spaces being lost to CVE's.

It isn't critical, though. Using CVE's as fleet carriers will usually result in you losing those things pretty fast, and the Japanese getting valuable kill points for their loss.

Best use the CVE's with airgroups as transport escorts, and the ones without as ferry vessels.

Hi you still get enough CVE's with planes to have fun with them. I bombed Tokyo with 2 groups of CVL's and CVE's still laughing at all the damage they did but don't put TBM's on them as the nutty TF commander sends them to attack airfields with out escorts

I seem to remember the Sagamon as always having no Air Groups from the first Version of PW. I`m not sure about the second Bogue Group tho.. BTW, you will almost always lose one of the first Bogues pretty quick either to Subs or Air Action..mayhap that`s hardcoded Image

You probably already do this but I find it useful to start the Essex Class and CVL Air Groups training as soon as they show up since it takes so long for them to fill out.

Also usually mark two to three of the CVL Fighter Groups for Night Combat ( when they are full and trained up ) That way in the Game optimal two CV one CVL TF`s I run you always have NF`s in the late war.

Great Game isn`t it !!
