Game tactics

Post by blastpop »

I ran through the demo and then played the Carolina scenario recommended and Saratoga. It plays smooth and is playable in a short time. I then did the invasion of Canada scenario- The Americans, which I played for the first time in the game never really got started. The scenario seems to short to get much done...

Anyway, I really haven't read the rules yet, but the question is- much of the action happens fast as the days tick by quickly. Is there a way to slow it down some so I can understand how things transpire in it? What about a replay action to aid in this? I guess I feel I don't have enough understanding of what is going on and it hurts somewhat in my efforts to learn/play better.

I don't know of any way to slow down the way the turn progresses after you hit the turn button. You definately need to read the rules because there is alot happening under the hood that may not be obvious. The small scenarios don't really do the game justice.

Kind of what I figured. I have read about half the manual and learned a few things to be sure. In most games the small scenarios don't do "the system justice". On the other hand they are a good way to learn the basics and tactics to be used in the larger scenarios of a given game.

Unfortunately from my perspective, so much blows by fast with the units moving about, some of the flavor is lost as its to hard to keep up with what is happening.

It might be nice to see a rewind feature of if not, the ability to hit the enter key for example to proceed to the next game event if you so desire. In that way a player can examine the results of a just concluded battle on day 4, at his leasure, instead of waiting for day 30 to look at all the battle and event returns. It doesn't change the events, just allows a player to review them as they happen.

I like the game so far- just feel a few tweaks might prove very beneficial.

You can turn on the "Pause after battle" option and it will pause on the battle review screen so you can look over it as it happens.

Yeah, I forgot about that since I always play email games. It does help segment the turn.

Replay feature is indeed a feature we would like to add, but it is a tremendous work. Definitively a must have for the future, retrofited for free in the games of our serie. (should be there in 2007, Q1 or Q4 I can't say!)
