Question about drafts

Post by pdozer63 »

In my innaugural season, I see that the draft order was set alphabetically. I'm asking in advance about season 2 and beyond. Will the draft order be set from worst to first?

No, GW. You can't.

It's alphabetical, and that's it.

Am I right, in detecting a lot of anger directed my way from someone who is not Mr. Winter? If so, what the FUCK is wrong with him?

No, GW, I don't have any anger directed your way.

It's just that the longer the posts are when answering any of your questions, it seems, the greater the chance of the thread being diverted wildly off topic.

I was simply being pro-active, and keeping this thread to the subject of the Inaugural Draft Order.

Wishlist item:  More customizable drafts.

I don't want U of Akron to be a national power because they are first alphabetically... [:D]

In the first draft, the Aaronville Aardvarks will have an advantage, but drafts after that will be sorted by record.

I agree that having a draft table that can be modified would be really nice.  It would allow for snaking the first draft and would be needed when the game adds trades and other GM features.

What if you add a a,b,c,d or son on in front of the team name before the draft and then take it off after the draft is this possible and would it work.

That would work, but it would be a pain.  Also, it would be nice to be able to decide if the first draft is snake or normal (so you could weight teams appropriatly).

Hey Dream, why not use the outside Team utility program that comes with MF?  If you click on "Edit Team" and go to the roster window, there is this button called "RND Roster" which allows you to randomly insert custom players without the Draft at all.  I use this feature extensively when I first create a league with no players in it yet.  You could still use a Draft with this, but I usually just set it with low number of rounds.  I would think this would work well if you wanted to create Amature/College leagues.  Goes much faster too.

The only problem I have with "RND Roster" button option is that I think it only generates Professional style players.  I tried experimenting with a "Junior-College" style players, but the ratings and player Weights the program generated reminded me more of NFL/Pro style players then College players.  Also, I created a utility program that allows you to adjust the Rating ranges of generated players, but it does not seem to have any effect when I use the "RND Player" option for generating players.

Hey David, could you please allow the "RND Roster" Button Option in the Roster Utilities to allow you to adjust the Player Ratings Ranges which is located in the Main Database file?  I think it works with Drafts ok, but it does not seem to have any effect with the "RND Roster" Button Option.

Or if this is not possible, could the "RND Roster" Button Option in the Roster Utilities at least correspond with what type of players your league generates? That way if you have a Highschool league or College league made, this option would generate players around those ranges.

Magnum, the answer to that is I'm still having too much fun with the PDS to start a league yet.  Now, with 10 days of vacation staring at me, I might get around to starting one...maybe :)
