Campaign freakiness

Post by Jackk »

Hi all,

I'll apologize if this has been covered before.

Has anyone noticed that some really funky stuff can happen in a campaign?
I tried to reassign some units to the AO formation.....poof....they instantly self-destructed upon reassignment. Talk about a lack of faith in the commander! :0) Naturally I had saved before the deployment, so no loss, but I was a bit perturbed at not being able to give the AO some company. AT guns, trucks, tanks, infantry, all poof. Too weird.

Then, after a battle, all the left over crewmembers (from burning tanks, tracks, etc.) show up in the unit list...in ADDITION to the original vehicle. After a few battles a platoon of tanks grows to a platoon of tanks and a platoon of crew.....which of course can be upgraded to whatever you like :-)
Just for kicks I thought I'd see how far I can go....I'm still going. My original scout platoon of 2 squads, a Grayhound, and 2 .50 cal jeeps has grown to 3 grayhounds, 2 squads, and 7 rifle platoons! Heh heh heh. And my mechanized rifle platoon is doing even better.
I guess I should put all the extra crews in the back someplace and just play with the original formation....but that's when I found out about the AO unit problem. I figured I'd be good to give all these crews to the AO and just let him sit in the back somewhere on guard duty.....but then all the crew started dying....hehe...and even if the crew from a previous battle is left over and killed in the current battle, it still shows up in the repair list afterwards. They're like a plague, they just keep multiplying!!! LOL

Just wondering if anyone else has been having fun with this. I think it's a nice little "feature", but I'm sure it's driving someone nuts :-)

Oh, and I haven't actually tried to track if the crews become new crews or if they get new vehicles and I get new crews in the crew slot....dang, that's confusing just trying to say that....where's that dude with the spreadsheets and damage tables and stuff...he can probably figure it out....LOL

Okay, naptime for me....and BTW....thanks to Matrix, TGN, Bill, Paul, and all them dudes whos is kickin butt with this. Much thanks and keep 'em coming guys!

Hello Jack, and welcome!

Yes, these points have been covered...and I mean covered Image

But let's review. We know about the crews. That will be taken care of in the upcoming patch I am told.

Some people successfully convert them to fighting units (Now that is a human cheat as compared to an AI one...if there were one).

Second point: The A0 could be classified as a bug, but it is being used by designers to create destroyed tanks from a pre-existing battle for scenarios. It is also a good way to get rid of those extra crews Image

We'll probably leave it like that.

Enjoy the game and thank you for the kind words...

Bill,

And thank you fer a speedy reply :-)

I have to admit that I'd prefer to get rid of the AO bug, but that's just me....I like to get my AO into action, but I want him to have some protection too...hehe...but I understand why yall'd want to keep it....hey, if it helps you make good scens...keep all the bugs you want...LOL.

Yer right, the other is a human cheat if anything, but in campaign mode yer only cheating yerself.....or having a little UN-historical fun! Besides...thems Germans was a whuppin me good :-)

Thanks again for the reply....I kinda been out of the loop since just before the game was released...work and all...but I've been sneakin in a battle here and there and even sent some copies to my friends who don't have broadband service to get them hooked on it.
I may not e-mail ya, but I'll drop a nice word on the msg boards every so often....I'm still amazed that you guys get to do all this stuff on a subject you love and are able to provide great scens, games, articles, etc to us for free.

One more time....much thanks.
