OOB file format?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

OOB file format?

Post by Pug »

I'm one of those types that likes to have a hard copy of unit stats handy while I play.

I've just gone through the pain of manually transcribing the Brit. weapon data into an excel spreadsheet using the OOB editor. It took a couple of hours.

I could probably write a parser for the OOB files in less time and have the tables auto-generated.

I took a look at the OOB files and their format is not obvious (other than the initial 250 15 byte ASCII entries).

Would anyone care to part with the OOB format so that I could write an automatic table generator? I'd be more than willing to make it available when I'm done.

Thanks,

Pug

You probably should write David Heath or approach Paul Vebber about the OOB format. They would be the ones to help you if that is possible.

Thanks to ASDN I have a utility that outputs the OOB files to a spreadsheet readable format. When we are sure all the bugs are out, I will post them. In the mean time I will see if we can't include the sheets themselves in the patch.
