I've tried it.  But got errors and lockups.  Though I think that what's in FoF ought to function properly, I'm not so sure Matrix is committed to fixing something that users might not be using with regularity.
 
Not claiming to have expert knowledge of such things, using the latest multiplayer technology might have prevented problems.
