A few questions

Post by aqacommish »

I have been following MF for a while now and I have a few questions..

1) How recently has there been a patch and what is the timeline for the next one.
2) Does the game come with many playbooks or do you have to download additional playbooks from another source.
3) Between games can you access league leaders?
4) Can you edit player names?
5) I know there were some draft issues, teams taking 4 qbs and such, has this been addressed?
6) How realilistic are the stats on a quick sim?

Thanks

4 JAN 2007 was the most recent. There usually isnt an announced timetable for release. David works constantly on the game, fixing reported bugs.

2) Does the game come with many playbooks or do you have to download additional playbooks from another source.
There are, I think, 3 playbooks. 1 for each formation size. 11 man, 12 man, and 8 man.
www.fbmax.com has tons of custom stuff, including some good playbooks.

3) Between games can you access league leaders?
Yes, and the stats are now sortable.

4) Can you edit player names?
You can edit basically everything. I do think it is tied to where you are in your season however.
Once you start your season, some things are greyed out.

5) I know there were some draft issues, teams taking 4 qbs and such, has this been addressed?
You set up profiles for the draft. The draft issues may have been a default profile thing, not
sure.

6) How realistic are the stats on a quick sim?
I consider them to be realistic. Far more than Maddens ever were. Although remember, there are so many rules variations, time clock, downs etc...its not just a vanilla attempt to re-create the
NFL, AFL, or CFL.

**A couple notes-MaxFB isnt a lazy mans game. There is some effort required to play this 'Your Way' so to speak. There is generally enough provided to just play out of the box, but this game comes into its own when the user takes control and makes it his way.

Also, 'Quick Sim' is not exactly the same as in Madden or FBpro. I timed a few the other night, and for me on my PC, a game took about 2min to quick sim. Which is ok with me, since I usually dont have more than 12 teams max in a league. These games were 15min qtrs with a 40sec play clock.
But, understand that the gamelog from a quicksim gives you stats, and a play by play. Which is
fantastic.

Note that the beta team is given a patch every three to four days on average. Any public beta patch will likely take a few weeks between patches.

There was a long time between the Release 2 patches and the Release 3 public beta patch because so much code was rewritten and the PDS (Play Development System) was rebuilt.
