Great Game For XBOX Translation

Post by Al Boone »

UV would be a great game to convert to the XBOX 360. The combination of UV game strategy and new State of Art graphics for tactical combat resolution would make an irresistable subject into a real winner for the XBOX 360. Besides, I think that the XBOX 360 type platform is where a company like Matrix would find a real profit. If one watches the TV program "Dogfights" on the History Channel, the graphics possibilities become apparent.

I shouldn't dignify this post with a response, but... get lost...

Different genre.  This game is a thinking game, not a shoot 'em up.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Hey Al

We're just joshin....but tbh, the last thing I want any of my decent PC games to be are XBoxed...I don't like consoles...never have. I suppose it might be because I'm rubbish...but I just don't like em.

Also, I've waited on many, many a PC game, only to find out it was badly put together because, to maximise profit, it was designed for console and PC and very little changed in the port, therefore rendering said game useless on a PC...

No...I'm fine with PC games staying with the PC. I don't mind if they're designed for the PC then they want to port them...it's when they try to combine the two in the design phase where it all goes tits up.

I posted this because that seems to be the place where Matrix could make some real money, which ultimately helps us in the long term, but also might encourage them to do more development on UV. I am too old to play hand/eye games anymore, but I would sure love to play UV on my 60“ Sony with all bases and other data shown under the map and History Channel "Dogfight" type CGI graphics for the combat animations. The main thing is getting a new upgraded UV incorporating some of the WITP routines plus other refinements!

Guys, it's not as an outlandish proposal as you think.

I had a friend that that had the same game in his computer (an Amiga 500 - it was a while ago) and on a games console. He prefered to plug in the cartridge and press the go button rather than load up the computer and launch the game program. Personally I think he was crazy as the video on the TV was c#@p compared to the computer monitor but that was his decision. The sheer raw computing power of the latest gaming consoles makes this approach more than viable.

However, do you really think that anyone who couldn't be bothered to install a game on their hard drive is going to have the attention span to organise shipping supplies from Luganville to Irau?? I suspect you would be able to count the sales of a games console version of this game on one hand. (Particularly when the games site reviews come out that it doesn't have Doom like animations - they already say this, do a Google search).

Great idea to increase the audience but.......
Cheers,
Reg.

Uh oh, Firefox has a spell checker!! What excuse can I use now!!!

Hello...

Sadly, development costs would exceed potential revenues by a factor of 100.

Bye...

Also Advertising and promoting costs would be expotential for XBOX as UV would need to conquer totally new customers from console world witch would be very expensive and risky as Wargame genre is not popular in consoles.

When in PC world UV have large number of old customers that lurk around for free so need for advertising is zero or same as making web page and capturing couple screen shots. Its better to keep old customers happy than go after totally new ones.

When going through the approval process at Microsoft, wouldn't the Xbox team say "Are you serious?". Even Battlestations Midway is a marketabilty reach on the 360.

Don't want pretty or a two handed controller. Give me a keyboard and a mouse and make me think, and as long as I can tell the difference between an air, land and sea unit, I will be fine.
