I'm sure it won't be a great loss...
...but I'm finished posting here....
That's 3 threads recently I've been involved in and three threads that have been locked. I'm not sure who w If you have a policy, then it should be enforced...but not in the way it currently is.
It appears that a thread is left open until it goes out of control, whilst what should happen is if someone steps out of line, they are given a warning, perhaps two...after that, they should be banned for blatantly violating your rules...instead, what happens is your users appear to have threads they've "positively" contributed to, closed.
If I've broken your rules, then I apologise...but I will not post, post, post and have the threads locked, locked, locked.
Matrix, I will continue to buy your games, but I will not post on your boards anymore.
I refuse to waste my time starting/contributing to threads that are either locked due to blatant abuse of your policy, or inadvertantly steering off your policy. It's a waste of my time and yours.
If you have a policy, then bloodywell enforce it. If I have broken some rule, then warn me and if I post again on the same thread, then ban me....same goes for others.
I have seen several post go wayward recently, and it appears with a sudden influx in people who I had, in my three years here, not heard of...barely, and I think you can spot them.
I've been here three years, and it's only in the last week I've used the ignore button!!
The terrible thing is, I am neither left, right or middle....I simply vote for which government is going to directly impact me and my family in a positive way.
I just don't want to waste my time on posts that will be locked.
I'll continue to buy your games, but I refuse to have anymore of my threads blocked, locked or hijacked.

RE: I'm sure it won't be a great loss...
What in the world made you think that you were being singled out? I don't recall any of this having to do with one of your posts. In any case, I'm tired of the recent upswing in political discussions here. I think that some of it is overflow from the Steakhouse, but it has to stop. We've been fine with light moderation for months and I'd like to see a return of that. I have no desire to keep locking threads, but there seem to be some posters that can't discuss anything without bringing politics into it.
It is of course entirely your decision if you want to post here or not, but I find it a bit strange that you would forego posting entirely because of a few locked threads in the general discussion forum.
Regards,
- Erik

I think this thread should be locked.....[:D]
WE/I WANT 1:1 or something even 1:2 death animations in the KOIOS PANZER COMMAND SERIES don't forget Erik!
and Floating Paratroopers We grew up with Minor, Marginal and Decisive victories why rock the boat with Marginal, Decisive and Legendary?
RE: I'm sure it won't be a great loss...
I have had one thread locked (to date), and that was my fault. I was not sure what was "off limits", but a "warning" should not be necessary. I have been in the forums so long I just never bothered to go back and read updates to the rules, etc.
This IS a Matrix forum, after all, and should be considered a courtesy extended to their customers,IMHO.
No need for anybody to leave.

I don't understand why you are feeling the need to go, that said you are more than welcome to peruse my previous postings here, and you will find the majority were polite and topical. It seems I may well have misunderstood the theoretical lack of "politics" on this board. It was my understanding we were to keep political reparte and back and forth off Matrix and at either Mad Cow's or some other forum.
As a denizen of Mad Cow's I do apologize for the pollution of MCSH business on these boards in the form of a poster bringing his dirty laundry here to air. The "OT" subfora here was closed down because in large part it became far too much a hassle for the Company to keep alive when our "betters" decided that they did not like the tone. Now mind you so far as I know when it was here it did not tend to pollute any of the game subfora, nobody was forced to go into the OT subfora but somehow because political oddballs and people of various persuasions could post there on politics somewhat freely it became "a problem" to the point some crusading do-gooders felt the need to spambomb the mods ad infinitum.
So far as I can tell the RONda rule states that "politics is okay" as long as it is "incindental" and "not focused". I, for one, have tried to live within the spirit of Mr. Rutin's ruling despite the appearence of abuse at a minimum. Enjoying military history, and the progress of the systems of military hardware I feel I have at least something of a contribution to make here, as I have in the past.
Certainly there have been times in the OOB forum I have dipped into the well of Sarcasm to call out some design forays into fantasy, but it is rendered in the spirit of aiding the development of better games not as an ego exercise.
"Croissants for the Char and TeaTime for the Matilda" notwithstanding.
regards,
sven

I've noticed that Erik, perhaps we can have a list or set of examples of acceptable political digs that can be "incidentally" brought in?ORIGINAL: Erik Rutins

I agree with Erik. It is, after all, a game forum. Perhaps if we all could follow the old adage of polite conversation : never discuss sex, politics or religion - we could stay on focus a little better. My feeling on incidental "digs" is that they just open the door to escalation.

Maybe, but the blame for the recent foulness here can be laid 100% at the door of a very few people, Judge not one of them...

How can you talk about the military and not talk about politics? From ROE to procurement politics play a huge part.

Be a man and come out and say who you mean. Don't hide behind obtuseness. Funny thing is I think the people are talking about have been a part of this community a hell of a lot longer than you have

The continueing attacks, out of hand, that generally lead to escalation can in fact be laid at certain people that do NOT post at a certain other site. We all know them, they make some personal attack and then act offended when someone foolishly rises to the bait to respond, followed by " lock this now" and " you arent welcome here"
Favoritism is alive and well here.
RE: I'm sure it won't be a great loss...
The Military and War are nothing but forms of Politics. To pretend otherwise is crazy. Politics will by nature of the beast be brought up in these forums to some extent unless we stick JUST to dry topics like technical specifications of weapons systems.
I would suggest that several recent threads were doing very well at avoiding talking about specific parties or such and only mentioning the general nature to which politics effects the issue being discussed.

Yeah, you.
You slandered everyone associated with The Steakhouse. That brought people from the entire political spectrum back here to defend it.

Even I have been at Matrix longer than Terminus, although with a slightly different profile. Maybe he has used several himself??

Just this mentioned because some people made an issue of it.[8D]
I would assume that acceptable political digs are such as:
"Japan only lost WW2 because of US warcrimes."
That one slipped right through!!
Though I don't really hold Matrix "accountable" since the majority focus is on games.
I just mention that because of allegations that in the GD forum, and, according to some people, in misc game forums, some posters drop political blurbs into their posts.
It's in the fashion of the NPR attack: Nearly any program, concerning just about any subject, is guaranteed to contain some snide remarks about GWB, conservatives, the war in Iraq, etc., etc..
I don't like GWB or the war in Iraq, but I note the practice.

No. The blame is 100% on Doggie and his pathetic, sycophantic entourage.

Doggie can most assuareduly respond with his own scathing attacks. BUT I challange you to find ANY thread where he "started" it. He responds to things from others, I would suggest occasionally some of them are not worth the effort or time. I can find several recent threads where YOU made direct personal attacks on posters for no apparent reason.
I no longer post at Mad Cows and you can rest assurade Doggie is no friend of mine. But your assertions are simply beyond the pale.

WHAT???????? Are all you SteakHouse morons insane???????
That's you, quoted from here:
tm.asp?m=1357292
That's an unprovoked attack on everybody at The Steakhouse. In a thread that was completely non-political.
BTW, some that you call Doggie's entourage are usually his political opponents but one "insane moron" brought them all together.
RE: I'm sure it won't be a great loss...
LOL, yup, Not everyone at Mad Cows is right of center AND even those to the right fight more with each other than the real enemy. That some people think it is "polite" commentary to call others offensive names and then get offended themselves when a response appears would be a definatition of hypocrite in my book.
And unless I am mistaken the most aggregious of the bunch practiceing this , telling those they dont like to leave or calling them names, are the first to DEMAND the thread be locked or that someone police these others that have made the mistake of responding to the bait.
