Looking for help setup and play

I've played the IM several times and recieved no challenge but I love the game and want something competitive. Not interested in detailed battle but any other options are welcome.
I've never played PBEM before and not sure if I'm set up for it.

If I may chime in, there will be major improvements to our PBEM system in the upcoming patch (which is about two weeks away), so you might want to try a practice game, but not start your serious one until after the patch, since save files for any games started now will not load once you patch up the game.
